AUDIOBOOK OUT NOW!
We are an audiobook! So thrilling to announce that you can now listen to ParentShift on your morning commute. We considered narrating the audiobook ourselves but dropped that idea when we heard how amazing the pros sounded. After listening to more than 100 auditions, we chose a Los Angeles voice actor named Julie Slater, whose voice is clear, engaging and conversational — perfect for us. Julie's work spans audio book narration, commercials, promos, radio hosting, newscasting, and singing. You can find out more about her work at www.julieslater.com, and you can download the audiobook on Audible here.

FEATURED IN THE ATLANTIC
Check out the story Joe Pinsker wrote for The Atlantic today. It's all about the value of negotiating with kids. Pinsker reached out to us for the ParentShift perspective, which we were glad to offer. Negotiating mutual (win-win) agreements with kids are the at epicenter of heart-centered parenting. (And all the tools you need to do it effectively can be found in Chapter 11!)

ParenTSHIFT: THE BOOK CLUB
We're stronger together. At least that's the way we see it. To that end, we encourage you to read ParentShift in tandem with your spouse, partner, co-parent or even your book club! We've just posted a whole bunch of excellent questions and prompts, broken down by chapter, to assist you in your journey. If you have the means and would like to deepen the experience, you might also consider hiring Linda and Ty Hatfield to speak to your book club. And FYI: Brown Paper Press, offers volume discounts to book clubs of any size.

Thanks to all of you who came out for the official launch of ParentShift at our favorite coffeehouse, Viento y Agua, in Long Beach May 11. We couldn't have asked for a better turnout or a more supportive group of people (parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles & parents-to-be) to share in our celebration. No matter where this book journeys, it will always have started here.

Happy Pub Day!
ParentShift launches today, and we're awfully proud. Three years of hard work under one beautiful cover designed by Alban Fischer. And thanks to our friend Leslie for making it even more pretty with her #bookbento skills! Be sure to check out our Shareables page for more images. We'll be celebrating the launch this weekend at Viento y Agua Coffeehouse in Long Beach, followed by a speaking/signing event at Barnes & Noble at Marina Pacifica May 18. Stay tuned for details.

FIRST (UNOFFICIAL) SIGNING
The good folks who ordered pre-sale copies of ParentShift direct from Brown Paper Press or Parenting from the Heart will soon be receiving signed copies in the mail — a full two weeks before the book is out in stores. (Lucky bastards.) We had a great time at our first (informal) signing — which may or may not have involved bourbon-spiked lemonade.
FYI: You can still pre-order a book to be delivered by May 7. Check out the various buying options here.

OUR FIRST OFFICIAL REVIEW
Foreword Reviews calls ParentShift "an upbeat, modern guide with classic roots" in a great review that will run in May/June 2019 issue. We've also received some really wonderful endorsements, which you can find here. Off to a great start!

The galley proofs for ParentShift arrived this week. We are thrilled. This was not an easy book to put together — lots of components, lots of design elements. Lots and lots (and lots) of complications. Getting it together required some luck and fortitude. But Brown Paper Press, along with two fantastic designers — Alban Fischer and Gary Rosenberg — made it happen. Phew! Now, let's just hope the reviewers like it as much as we do.

Last year, the PBS NewsHour and Facebook came together to produce a video (part of a series) called "Let Me Explain: Timeouts" and featuring Wendy Thomas Russell. The video was watched by more than 6.5 million people and shared more than 73,000 times. Lots of the commenters said something to effect of: "Okay, so you want to take away my timeouts. What am I supposed to do instead?" We sure hope those folks plan to read ParentShift. Because that's where all the answers are.
