Chapter 44 The Lifespan of a Pureblood Elf
Chapter 44 The Lifespan of a Pureblood Elf
The next day, Lin Er had just gotten up when there was a knock on his door.
He opened the door and saw that it was indeed Flora.
Flora didn't waste any words and got straight to the point:
"Lin'er, the house has been rented, and I've already paid one month's rent for you. How's your Silver Badge?"
"Thank you so much. Don't worry about the badge; Miss Ellie has agreed to help me."
Flora nodded and glanced around the room.
"Do you have any more luggage to move?"
Lin Er shrugged. He carried his valuables with him at all times, and only had a sword in his hand.
"There aren't any left. Let's go now."
The two then walked downstairs.
Lin Er checked out of the room, thanked the tavern owner for his care over the past few days, and then turned to leave.
Soon, they arrived near Flora's house, next door, where the newly rented house was the same style.
Flora took out a bunch of keys: "These are your house keys. I'll take you to meet the person in charge of the house in a few days. She's the guild's steward."
According to Flora's description, all the houses in this area actually belong to the guild.
After Lin Er noted these down, he asked, "How much is the rent? I'll pay you back first."
He didn't overlook such details. Flora was, after all, his good friend. Even if she didn't care, he still had to settle accounts.
Flora: "It costs 60 Wheat Coins a month, originally it was 120. I told her you're also at the Silver level, and that's why it's half price."
Lin Er couldn't help but feel troubled, saying, "You really trust me? What if I fail to get it down?"
Flora: "Didn't you say I trusted you? I didn't think you couldn't handle this."
Her expression was very serious, and she seemed even more confident than Lin Er himself.
Lin Er felt somewhat helpless. He suddenly remembered his encounter with Gareth yesterday, so he told him about Gareth's request, since it was also related to Flora.
As for Rose Bay and such, Lin Er didn't mention it.
Flora frowned and shook her head after hearing Lin Er's words.
"Hmph, this playboy still won't give up. I've said it before, I'm not considering dating right now. Besides, he's a short-lived creature, he's just delusional."
Flora's attitude was very firm. She glanced at Lin Er again and realized that she had said the wrong thing.
"I'm sorry, Lin Er, I wasn't talking about you. You'll always be my most precious companion!"
The way she spoke made it sound as if she might suddenly stop talking if she wasn't careful.
Flora truly thought so too. Because of her mother's warning, she was afraid that Lin Er would die of old age if she wasn't careful, so she cherished every day.
If we calculate based on a lifespan of one hundred years, her only companion, Lin Er, currently only has about eighty years left to live.
A mere eighty-odd years is a very short time for an elf.
Flora had never paid attention to such things before, but now that she had Lin Er as a companion, she realized that short-lived species were indeed very short-lived.
Lin Er sighed and said, "Elves do have very long lifespans, at least three hundred years."
He was not yet clear how much his lifespan would be extended by improving his cultivation, but since he had chosen the path of immortality, he should have an extremely long lifespan in the future.
Of course, this is on the premise that one's cultivation level can break through.
Flora: "That's a half-elf. Pure-blooded elves have a lifespan of at least a thousand years."
This means that Flora must be a pure-blooded elf.
Lin Er felt that elves were truly a race blessed by heaven and earth, as they did not need to cultivate and their lifespans were already so long.
It's no wonder Flora doesn't want to fall in love with short-lived species; their lifespan is simply an insurmountable obstacle.
At this moment, Flora said, "Lin'er, my family has prepared breakfast. Come and eat with us."
Lin Er also came to his senses and replied, "Wouldn't that be too much trouble for you?"
Flora shook her head: "It's no trouble. Aren't we neighbors now? Cooking for one person is the same as cooking for two."
Lin Er felt like he was being tricked. Ever since he accepted Flora's lunchbox yesterday, everything seemed to be going according to her plan.
She really is a demonic witch!
But the food was really delicious.
Now that things have come to this, let's eat first.
……
After finishing breakfast, Lin Er remembered that he had a date with Ellie the next day.
The last time Ellie treated him to dinner, she dressed very elegantly, while he himself was dressed very casually.
Lin Er felt that dressing up like this again tomorrow would be somewhat impolite to Ellie. Besides, she had helped him a lot, and all she asked for was a simple date.
He should at least change his clothes for this date, to show some respect for Ellie.
However, Lin Er had absolutely no experience buying clothes in another world, and he was worried about making a mistake if he just bought one randomly.
Thinking this, he couldn't help but turn his gaze to Flora.
Lin Er immediately told Ellie about his date with her the next day, making it clear that this was on Ellie's condition for helping him.
Flora was silent for two seconds before saying, "I told you I wasn't wrong. Ellie confessed to you, didn't she?"
He didn't expect Flora to still remember this.
Lin Er said, "You're mistaken. You said Luna before."
Flora shook her head: "I clearly said Ellie. We elves have excellent memories, so don't talk nonsense."
She's trying to mislead people now; she's really being stubborn.
For some reason, for a fleeting moment, Flora's eyes seemed to show a hint of sadness, or perhaps it was just an illusion.
Lin Er asked with concern, "Are you alright?"
Flora looked up at her, feigning anger: "I don't know why I feel a little uncomfortable. You must be trying to mislead me. I'm clearly in the right."
She didn't seem to understand why she was in a bad mood earlier, and she became somewhat embarrassed and angry.
Seeing that Flora was alright, Lin Er didn't have time to argue with him and said, "Could you help me pick out an outfit?"
Flora, seeing that Lin Er was also dealing with serious matters, regained her composure.
"Can."
The two then headed towards the street and arrived at the tailor shop.
There are a few ready-made clothes available, as well as custom-made clothes. A regular custom-made fur coat costs 72 Wheat Coins.
Those fine fur coats and silk garments, in vibrant colors, cost as much as 480 wheat coins. And this wasn't even clothing worn by nobles; otherwise, the price would have been even higher.
Fortunately, Lin Er had recently made a fortune from Carlisle and still had 330 fang coins, enough to afford a silk dress.
After Lin Er had his measurements taken by the tailor, Flora ordered a golden-yellow elven-style garment for him.
The upper part of the ranger's robe was adorned with rich iris embroidery, and a black belt was tied around her waist. It must be said that Flora's taste was quite good.
This outfit is both practical and suitable for formal occasions, as well as everyday life and adventures.
Flora commented, "I think gold suits your temperament very well."
It would be even more perfect if the iris embroidery could be replaced with a dragon.
The dragon is a symbol of emperors.
Lin Er felt that one piece of clothing was not enough, so he bought an ordinary fur coat as a casual outfit to change into.
Since he needed to wear it tomorrow, he had no choice but to ask the tailor for more money to get the robe out first.
After dealing with the clothing issue, Lin Er finally felt relieved.
I wish you a successful date tomorrow.
Flora gave a vicious blessing.
