Chapter 684: Entering the Ship
Chapter 684: Entering the Ship
This night would certainly be a night that would be recorded in history.Yet, there were only around fifty men that knows what happens that night
Those who knows the matter was the soldiers that escorted that person.
That person rides his horse to the camp of the Khan
He brought only a sword, a dagger and wearing a fur armour. One would be shocked to know it.
This person was then escorted into the tent of the Khan.
And the people around the Khan tent gasped when they see the face of this person illuminated by the torch.
But none of them say anything. There is countless thoughts and theories swirling in the minds of the soldiers who saw the face of that person
But they all know.
To serve the Khan, lone must not only have strength and bravery.
One must also know when to shut up.
They are not minister of the court whose prowess lies in speaking.
Their job is to do what the Khan told them to do.
But the most important thing....is that they know not to speak the affairs of the Khan to anyone else.
If the Khan could not trust you to serve him, if your tongue is as loose as a whores opening, then the Khan would let you lose not only your tongue but your head.
So, they pretend not to see, pretend not to hear and they would shut their mouth and not said anything.
Around fifty men or more knows about this meeting.
And every men that knows it, certainly understood one thing.
They would not speak about what happens tonight unless the Khan himself ask them to speak of it.
All they know is that when they announce that person name, the voice is slow.
And before they even said his name and his title, the servants around the Khan quarters come out
It is one of Kashoger men.
He simply said
"there is no need to announce. The Khan would meet him."
That person only smiles and then strode into the Khan tent.
Still wearing his sword on his left hip.
Still having the dagger tucked inside his fur armour.
The guards did not even stop him.
Those who escorted that person was about to say that one should not bring weapons into the Khan quarters but Kashoger men shook his head
"The Khan allows it"
The other guards just nodded.
And then they return to their position.
Those who should patrol, patrol. Those who should guard guards and those who should sleep, sleep.
But those who patrols could not help but feel their hearts pounding, those who are guarding could not forget, and those who should sleep...could not sleep
They all knows that tonight something big would happen. They did not know what will happen. They only know something big is going to happen
Why? Because the identity of the person who enters that tent....the person who rides only with five men , wearing swords and bringing daggers, is none other than Chayun
The new chief of the Chagai tribe.
Why is he here? Why is he not afraid? There is countless of question. And each answer seems inadequate.
This is something none of them could understand. And since they did not understand, they should just maintain tehri silence.
Outside the tent of the Khan, the night become deeper
..
Chayun take a seat in front of the Khan. This is the first time that Chayun look at the Khan this close
This young man that shook the Southern Great Steppe to the core is very young. And his face is very pronounced.
Chayun is looking at this Khan. This Khan that his father admired and the Khan that his father bet on
Aeryon the Son of Rakarys. He sits there, with a smile on his face, his eyes sharp and bright looking at him
The outside is dark, the flames of the torch sways left and right every few second, the illumination shines a light on the face of this young Khan.
The distance between them is only two feet apart from each other. They both sit cross leg in front of a low table that is now between them
A cup of hot water on the table, for him.
Chayun met many leaders and chief. But no one seems to have this kind of pressure that bore down on him the moment this young Khan looks at him
A pressure, a demeanour that is born from winning.
From the moment this Khan begins his conquest he sweeps all of his enemies away with unparalleled power.
With that kind of victory, it is not surprising, there is some gravitas to his words and his action.
He is calm, confident, like he was someone born to command
But Chayun knows.
That this kind of confidence is built up by victories.
Victory after victory and this belief in oneself shaped one inner core and inner view of oneself.
His father had told him as much
The reason why powerful people semes to have this kind of aura around them is simply because they learn from their experience
Innate warrior is of course different.
But while the innate warrior pressure you with their strength, those who cultivate their own aura from victory, this kind of pressure is different.
Mentally you are put at a disadvantage when you are negotiating with such a person.
His father said when he was young, eh also has a time of failure.
And his father said, just because you win all the time, does not mean you would wine every time. And just because you lose every time, does not mean you would lose every time.
But the most important thing that his father told him that day....was two things.
First is that failure is a better teacher than victory.
And the second is it does not matter if you fail, it matters how you react to that failure that would determine your fate.
Those who only knows victory and grew arrogant because of it, would only have tehri character polished if they could survive failure.
Only if they could accept failure, they could strive higher.
Some people who is accustomed to victory, one loss is enough to break their spine.
Because they never tasted failure, they failed to accept it.
And once they failed to accept a failure, such people would make more mistake. And this kind of mistake leads to more mistake.
More mistake would then lead to more mistake
More and more...until there is no turning back.
The Khan in front of him had never tasted failure. One wonders what would he do when faced with failure.
But while failure is the best of teacher, if you could win every time, that also shows ability. His father had said, everything should be judged based on the circumstances of the moment.
One should not be like a blady grass, swaying wherever the wind blows them, but one should not be stubborn when a storm begins to form.
Sometimes you have to endure the wind, sometimes you have to follow the wind.
A good leader should know the direction of the wind blowing and knows when to endure and when to follow.
There were many words that his father had said to him.
All of it was so that he would learn and using that learning to benefit the tribe
Now, he had become the leader of the tribe.
But he is not that happy.
He looks at the Khan again.
The young man who had conquered all of the tribes round him and continued riding froward, bringing harsh wind and storms with him to the west.
The face was handsome.
Not beautiful in the kind of a woman face but a sharp elegance.
High cheekbones, a straight proud nose and well-shaped jaw. He did not see him up close at that time
Now that he sees it up close, he did not have any defects on his face nor any of the usual pockmarks that some people have.
He had heard the Brolgadhr before becoming as large as it is now is a small tribe.
Those who come from a small tribe, always have deficiency.
Whether because of the food or because of the competition for food.
But this young Khan looks, it was almost like he had never suffer any lack of things.
But a handsome face like this, is the kind of face that made all the chief trembles and bows.
A rugged beauty of a seasoned horse lords instead of a sheltered prince.
The kingdom he built....he built it alone.
And precisely because of that, this young man has powers and influence beyond any old chief in the Steppe.
Even his father, had to look at the faces of the allied lords and the elders if he wanted to do something.
Sometimes, the things his father wanted to do could help the tribe.
But helping the tribe would mean infringing on the interest of some of the other factions in the tribe.
So, there is a need for negotiation, a back and forth of exchanging interest.
But this young man...whatever he says goes. Those who did not want to listen would be thrown out of the ship that he is building to the new era
Today, he came here to see whether he could board this ship
