the pincer attack commenced.
the troops that just arrived didn't even wait for a second as they launched their attacks. however, sam still stood there smiling. the puppets changed their formation. instead of the front, they are now covering sam all around. a circle has been formed.nôv(el)b\\jnn
sam launched another set of arrows.

the arrows flew out of the birds' mouths. however, they didn't just go straight and hit the opponents. the moment arrows left and travelled a few meters, their positions created a synergy between them. the arrows connected with each other through an energy threat. they acted as nodes as they moved in conjunction with each other.
at that critical moment, at the speed of a flash, the birds changed the formation again.

another set of arrows went out. this time at an increased speed. they caught up with the first volley of arrows.
the attacks from the opponents clashed with the first set of arrows. the connected arrows created a formation mid-air, and it is a moving formation no less. the barriers clashed with the attacks from either side.
then it exploded with ripple style, completely dissipating the force to the sides, clearing the path for the second set of arrows.
just like the first set, the second one also connected with each other. however... they are not defensive. they turned into a net captured the people advancing forward, tied them up inside and...*boom*

then they saw it, the barriers around both are cracking. this shocked them more than all the gimmicks sam showed them until now.
because when the formation was set up, the leader of the mercenary group himself tested it out. he beat the formation so much that he thought it is invincible unless someone from the divine plane pretranscendence shows up.
that is also one of the reasons that they didn't bother to block any attacks going after the barrier.
but sam who is clearly weaker than them, now cracked it.

they wanted to take a breather, but sam is not willing to let them. he doubled down with two more rounds.

with an explosion, the formation of the city disappeared. sam with the alert mechanism. "now with the main course."
sam muttered and his aura changed a bit and so did the elements he is using. until now, he only used fire elemental energy except for the first set of arrows he sent as well as the cursed arrows he dropped when he changed the puppets.
but now, he changed it a bit.
their advance became slow. of course, within fifteen minutes they did reach the space gate. but they didn't manage to activate it. the space gate connection is cut off. they cannot travel through it. they have to move through the path directly leading to the other city.

chetan and his team just finished slaughtering all the mercenaries. the city is not ruined, but
a lot of alert mechanisms are done for. the formations are deactivated. the city is theirs now.
"this really worked. i didn't expect this would so smooth sailing."

sam appeared in the middle of the city already waiting for them. the plan is pretty simple.
sam knew how the strategy works. when nalvahan attacks, there are only two places that could send reinforcements from.
however out of those two, one of them is the one chetan and his team made a move against before. the place that was destroyed, but couldn't be captured.
that place is in no situation to send the reinforcements. so, sam took advantage of this and attacked nalvahan. he kept them in a pickle. the reinforcements from the second city came,
leaving them open ended.
chetan's team entered and killed them.
this tactic is not exactly too smart. it is very easy to think of and chetan's team also thought of it. but they cannot handle the overwhelming number as much as sam did. the need all their team members to move forward and occupy a city.
sam kept the other side busy voluntarily since he needed to test the new puppets anyway. it worked out for now and they occupied the city.
"we don't have time. let's get moving. we need to solidify the defenses. i will be counting on you guys for repelling the attacks."
they all nodded and followed his instructions. the formation was reset with all of its original flaws covered. the bird puppets of the alert mechanism are replaced by sam's puppets. the turrets that are originally fixed are now mobile.
several discs are floating at various parts of the city and the alert mechanisms are restored
and some that cannot be restored and replaced.
within no time the city is back to how it was.
by now, the news has spread to all the other cities. including the poseidon academy members that are holed up far away from that place.
they also heard the news and just based on the description of the attacker, they knew sam is the one who came. they became anxious. the poseidon academy should have informed them that sam is coming, but they didn't, so these guys didn't prepare for his arrival.
of course, that doesn't mean, they won't be making a move. now the gambler academy team occupied the city called vashora. including nalvahan, there are three cities connecting to it. all the forces from these three cities started moving there. they planed to overwhelm sam with numbers. the poseidon team is also so king enough to give them the trinkets that could unlock and deactivate the alert and defense mechanisms of vashora.
around half an hour after sam and gambler academy finished their preparations, they saw that the troops are coming from three sides.
sam deployed the bird puppets once again and let the gambler academy team handle the rest.
