Ming Dynasty: Teaching The Prince Dragon-Slaying Skills At The Beginning

Chapter 357: Hundreds Of Thousands Of Articles That Are Difficult To Buy. Book Of Human Gives Birth

Chapter 357: Hundreds Of Thousands Of Articles That Are Difficult To Buy. Book Of Human Gives Birth

Below, after listening to Yan Changqing's story, Zhu Yuanzhang, as well as the princes Zhu Biao, Zhu Di, Zhu Fan, Zhu Di and other princes, all frowned deeply.

They thought about the cost of promoting literacy education for all, the difficulty of reading and literacy, and the low motivation of the people to learn.

However, they have just ignored the most inconspicuous but also the most important issue, that is—— Mr. Teacher!!!

No matter how low the teacher's ability requirements are, he must at least be a literary scholar who knows 300 core Chinese characters and 2,000 important Chinese characters. Book of Human!!!

Only if he himself is a literary scholar who knows three hundred core Chinese characters and two thousand important Chinese characters, then he can have the ability and qualification to teach other Ming people to read and read.

Moreover, the number of teachers required to teach in this way is not only ten or eight, nor one hundred and eighty, nor tens of thousands, but as many as dozens of square meters!!!

Although there are hundreds of thousands of literary scholars who know how to read and write, the Ming Dynasty can produce them.

But being able to take it out does not mean that Ming can use it!!!

After all, most people will not take the initiative to do things that have no clear and visible benefits to themselves.

Just like in order to mobilize most people's initiative in learning, Yan Changqing had to use potatoes with a yield of 20 shi per mu to motivate people.

Similarly, if you want these hundreds of thousands of literati who know how to read and write to be scholars, why not teach the people to read and write in the next village?!!

Yes, you have to add money!!!

If they want these literary scholars to go to the countryside and go to the villages to teach the people how to read and write, then the Ming Dynasty must also provide enough benefits to make them excited.

Because the Book of Human begets scholars, not ordinary people.

When dealing with the common people, Zhu Yuanzhang could use the method of levying corvee to drive the common people free of charge.

But when dealing with these intellectuals, Zhu Yuanzhang could no longer impose corvee services.

After all, among the 60 million people of the Ming Dynasty, the scholars who gave birth to scholars were still members of the privileged class of a few people!!!

Before all the people were scholars, even Zhu Yuanzhang had to be cautious when facing the privileged class of a small number of scholars.

Because before all the people are scholars, Zhu Yuanzhang and the Ming Dynasty will still have to rely on scholars, the privileged class of a few people, to help govern the world.

Based on this point alone, it is destined that when dealing with the entire class of literary scholars, they cannot be suppressed by force.

In the past, because Confucianism controlled the right to speak in public opinion, when Zhu Yuanzhang and Yan Changqing joined forces to suppress Confucianism, they only defeated the Shishi Confucian school, which was the representative of Confucianism.

Instead of suppressing the entire literary class, this can be seen.

And if you want to come up with benefits and benefits that are enough to make hundreds of thousands of literary scholars excited and take the initiative to go to the countryside and teach people how to read and write.

To be honest, Ming Dynasty cannot take advantage of this benefit.

Because these hundreds of thousands of books have been studied hard by scholars for ten years, and the ultimate goal is to participate in the imperial examination and become an official!!!

It is impossible for the Ming Dynasty to say that in order to allow these hundreds of thousands of literary scholars to go to the countryside to teach the common people to read and read, they should all be given a place of great prosperity.

Once this choice is made, the additional salary expenditures of these hundreds of thousands of officials and subordinates alone will be enough to overwhelm the entire Ming Dynasty's annual revenue and finances.

Not to mention, there are other accompanying benefits corresponding to officials and subordinates.

When they thought of this, both Zhu Yuanzhang and the princes Zhu Biao, Zhu Di, Zhu Fan, Zhu Di and other princes felt a little anxious.

[The name of an emperor is far away from the ages! The prosperous era of enlightenment in the Ming Dynasty!! The future of the national imperial examination!!!]

【That’s just one step away!!!】

[As long as the shortage of hundreds of thousands of teachers is solved, the Ming Dynasty will surely have one emperor for eternity, and the Ming Dynasty will also usher in a truly prosperous era of education and the future of national imperial examinations!!]

[But how can we provide benefits and benefits that are enough to buy and impress hundreds of thousands of intellectuals without significantly increasing the Ming Dynasty's current fiscal expenditure?!!]

[In addition to the quota of officials and subordinates, what other benefits and advantages can the Ming Dynasty provide to impress these hundreds of thousands of literary scholars and encourage them to go to the countryside and villages to teach the common people to read and read? !!】

Just as Zhu Yuanzhang, as well as the princes Zhu Biao, Zhu Di, Zhu Gang, Zhu Di and other princes, were all contemplating.

However, Qi Wang Zhu Shu's eyes suddenly brightened, because he thought of the last words Yan Changqing just said, "I just want those scholars to go to the villages willingly to teach the common people how to read and write, and Not an easy task.”

【Not an easy thing?!!】

[So that means, Mr. Yan actually has a solution to this problem?!!]

[It’s just that this solution may not be too easy to implement, so that’s why you didn’t say it out loud?!!]

Thinking of this, Qi King Zhu Su immediately raised his head and looked at Yan Changqing, looking a little excited and said:

"Mr. Yan, you just said, 'It is not an easy task for those scholars to willingly go to the villages to teach the common people how to read and write.'

"So that means you actually have a not-so-easy solution, right?!!"

Hearing the words of Qi King Zhu Su, Zhu Yuanzhang's eyes lit up, and he was so excited that he couldn't help but slapped Prince Zhu Biao heavily on the shoulder and back.

[Yes!!! We can’t think of a suitable solution. How can Yan Changqing not think of a suitable solution?!!]

[Since he can see this problem, then with his super long-term Saint vision that can see for hundreds of years, he will definitely be able to find a corresponding solution to this problem!!!]

Zhu Yuanzhang was not the only one to think so. Prince Zhu Biao, Zhu Di, Zhu Fan, Zhu Di and other princes also had the same idea.

On the podium, feeling the eager gazes of Zhu Yuanzhang, Prince Zhu Biao, Zhu Di, Zhu Fan, Zhu Di and other princes gathered on him, Yan Changqing nodded and admitted:

"There is indeed such an easy solution, but whether it can be implemented ultimately depends on His Majesty's wishes."

Zhu Yuanzhang directly waved his hand and said:

"You just talk about the solution, whether it can be implemented is our problem!!!"

"As long as your solution really works, then while we, Lao Zhu, are still here, we can guarantee you that it will be implemented in earnest!!!"

This sentence is not nonsense by Zhu Yuanzhang. During the Hongwu Dynasty of the Ming Dynasty, Zhu Yuanzhang, who founded the Ming Empire, indeed had such terrible deterrence and execution power.

After Zhu Yuanzhang's words, Yan Changqing immediately turned around and wrote on the blackboard behind him:

"My solution is--imperial examination reform!!!"

Looking at the four characters "Imperial Examination Reform" written by Yan Changqing on the blackboard, Zhu Yuanzhang couldn't help but murmured in a low voice:

“Imperial examination reform?!!”

In fact, Zhu Yuanzhang was not very satisfied with the current imperial examination system of the Ming Dynasty.

As early as the struggle for hegemony in the late Yuan Dynasty, Zhu Yuanzhang had already realized the importance of talents.

However, at that time, Zhu Yuanzhang was still far from unifying the world and taking charge of the world's political power, so he naturally had no way to select talents through the imperial examination.

Therefore, Zhu Yuanzhang mainly selected talents through recommendation. In the 16th year of Yuan Zhizheng, Zhu Yuanzhang issued a recruitment order: "If there are wise men and gentlemen who can work with me and make meritorious deeds, I will use them with courtesy."

In the twenty-fifth year of Zhengzheng Period, Zhu Yuanzhang explicitly required that officials within his control must report talents within their jurisdiction, and these talents could serve as secretary-generals of local county and county governments.

To this end, Zhu Yuanzhang also established a relevant system for recommendation and selection of talents. Zhongshu Ling was the official responsible for recommendation, and it was clearly stipulated that state and county officials must recommend talents every year. At the same time, School Disciple went to various places to find talents.

This system lasted until the Hongwu period after Zhu Yuanzhang established the Ming Dynasty.

However, after Zhu Yuanzhang unified the world, the shortcomings of the recommendation system have gradually been revealed, such as the recommended talents are not worthy of the name, and the recommendations are overflowing, etc.

So after unifying the world and establishing the Ming Dynasty, Zhu Yuanzhang set his sights on the imperial examination system.

Before the struggle for hegemony at the end of the Yuan Dynasty, he had not yet unified the world and took charge of the world's political power, so he was not qualified to establish the imperial examination system.

But now that he has unified the world and is in charge of the world's political power, he naturally has the qualifications to teach scholars from all over the world.

In order to truly pass the imperial examination and find suitable talents, Zhu Yuanzhang specially gave Tianwen Book of Human three years of preparation time for his students.

In May of the third year of Hongwu (1370), the imperial court began to set up the imperial examination, "so that all Chinese and foreign civil servants would be selected through the imperial examination, and those who did not take the imperial examination would not be eligible for official positions", and ordered the examination for three consecutive years.

At the same time, the "427 Subject Rules" were promulgated, which made specific and clear regulations on the time of the provincial examination and the general examination, examination qualifications, examination content, admission quota, origin, and examination bans.

In the same year, the provincial examination was held in Yingtianfu and various provinces. The examination was divided into three sessions. The first examination was the "Five Classics" meaning two and the "Four Books" one. In the second session, you will try to discuss one thing, and in the third session, you will try to make a plan.

The re-examination will be held ten days after the Chinese ceremony, and the subjects are riding, archery, calligraphy, arithmetic, and law.

In February of the fourth year of Hongwu (1371), candidates from all over the country held a joint examination in the capital, and 120 Jinshi were selected and awarded officials respectively.

However, even with three years of preparation time, Zhu Yuanzhang was still disappointed with the talents selected by the imperial examination.

Because most of the selected talents are outstanding in articles and poetry, but in terms of their ability to handle actual government affairs, they are still only good at talking [not practical.

The imperial examination was opened until the sixth year of Hongwu. The talents selected for three consecutive years were still difficult to satisfy Zhu Yuanzhang.

So in the sixth year of Hongwu, Zhu Yuanzhang issued an edict to suspend the imperial examination and restored the original recommendation system, which has continued until the current thirteenth year of Hongwu.

In other words, during this period, the imperial examinations in the Ming Dynasty were actually temporarily suspended.

However, the longer the recommendation system is implemented, the more prominent its drawbacks become.

Therefore, in the past two years, Zhu Yuanzhang also set his sights on the imperial examination again, and wanted to reopen the subject to gain pressure.

It's just that he was not satisfied with the original imperial examination system, so he was planning to reform the original imperial examination system and then re-implement it.

But he had not yet thought about how to reform it specifically, so when he heard Yan Changqing said that he wanted to reform the imperial examination, Zhu Yuanzhang immediately became interested.

Because of Yan Changqing's imperial examination reform, if it is feasible.

Not only did this solve the problem of hundreds of thousands of scholars going to the countryside to teach the common people how to read and write, but it also solved the issue of imperial examination reform that he had been thinking about.

It can be said that it kills two birds with one stone!!!
