Chapter 816 - Entering the Third Round
In the Xuan Ting Demon Sect—or rather, across the entire Myriad Demon Islands—the competition was ruthless.
Why would Qi Xue and the other demon generals risk everything to climb higher? The answer was simple: the higher their rank, the greater the rewards. Cultivation resources, demonic cultivation techniques, and more were all tied directly to their status and power.
On the Myriad Demon Islands, exploitation was brutal.@@@@
Without strength, one was relegated to the lowest rungs of society, forced into slavery, and subjected to relentless bullying.
Only by continuously raising one’s strength and advancing could someone rise above others—to rule, to enslave, and to exploit.
Even at the same cultivation level, differences in the quality of demonic arts and cultivation resources created vast disparities in strength among those at the same level.
When Qi Xue executed the Demonic Python Suppressing Seal, her terrifying demonic might rippled majestically. The large seal pressed down like an ancient divine mountain, crushing the air. A large swath of space shattered under its pressure.
As the demon general ranked last, Yan Shuiyi received the fewest resources. Her demonic arts were inferior in both quality and power, leaving her at a clear disadvantage against Qi Xue.
Rumbling noises rang out. The space shook. Under the large seal, Yan Shuiyi’s demonic cultivation was suppressed, and her face turned somewhat pale.
“Attack together. Break free from this Demonic Python Suppressing Seal!” Yan Shuiyi shouted. She knew it was simply impossible for her to resist Qi Xue’s Demonic Python Suppressing Seal alone. Even if she survived, she would be heavily injured.
“Shield!”
Demonic light blossomed from Yan Shuiyi as her hands formed several seals. Her demonic qi stirred, converging and creating an ink-black shield, emitting an unbreakable aura.
The silhouette of a black tortoise appeared on the shield, flashing with demonic runes.
Yan Shuiyi raised her hands, and the ink-black shield rose into the air, crashing into the Demonic Python Suppressing Seal pressing down from above.
“Demonic Wave Hundred Strikes!” roared the other guardian, despite having turned pale under the pressure. He pushed his cultivation to its limits, and a surge of demonic primeval enveloped his arms as he unleashed a flurry of strikes upward.
Boom, boom, boom...
Several demonic punches pierced through space like black meteorites, bombarding the large seal.
Chen Fan delivered a devastating punch. His fist force shot out like a flood dragon, tearing through the air and slamming into the descending seal.
Thump, thump, thump!
The three combined their strengths into a single strike. The descending Demonic Python Suppressing Seal shook violently and stopped descending.
“A mantis trying to stop a chariot, overestimating your own abilities!”
The corners of Qi Xue’s lips drew back into a mocking arc, and she pressed her palm down fiercely.
The space became a little quiet.
The crowd remained stunned for a while.
The domineering Qi Xue had lost. This was simply unexpected.
Qi Xue’s aura waned, and her complexion turned pale. She raised her head, looking at Chen Fan and Yan Shuiyi. The two of them joining forces had injured her.
She had wanted to raise her ranking a step higher in this Demon General Ranking Battle; ultimately, her ranking dropped to fourteenth place.
She felt indignant.
Humiliation.
All of it came surging out.
The memory of her bold declarations earlier now felt painfully ironic as she looked at her defeated state.
“I wouldn’t have lost if you two hadn’t joined hands!” Qi Xue said indignantly, looking at Chen Fan and Yan Shuiyi.
Chen Fan shot her a side glance and said, “The weak always need excuses. Pathetic.”
This fight had exceeded everyone’s expectations.
Few had anticipated that Yan Shuiyi’s faction would emerge victorious.
“Interesting. This makes it even better,” Pan Huan said, his eyes narrowing as he studied Chen Fan like a predator sizing up its prey.
“When will you make your move?” Dou Yan asked.
“No hurry. Let him climb higher first. The further he rises, the harder he’ll fall—it’ll be far more entertaining that way.” Pan Huan laughed in a low voice.
“That’s true.” Dou Yan did not care about Chen Fan at all. He chuckled and said, “If that last-ranked demon general makes it into the top seven, her eventual fall will be all the more spectacular.”
Since Pan Huan wanted to have some fun, he would just play along.
To him, Chen Fan and Yan Shuiyi were nothing more than ants—utterly insignificant and easily crushed.
This battle, however, sent shockwaves through the ranks. Many demon generals hesitated to challenge Yan Shuiyi’s group going forward.
Thus, they continued advancing and entered the third round of battles.
With the second round over, the First Demon General said, “Next is the third round of battles. We’ll decide the placement of the top seven. The usual rules apply.”
