Chapter 63 Distribution of Loot
Chapter 63 Distribution of Loot
Rumble~~~~!!
Even with the lid open, the heavy stone coffin emitted a dull thud that echoed within the confined space.
As the lid moved, everyone's gaze fell into the stone coffin, where the first thing they saw was the corpse of a young man.
He was handsome, with black lips, reminiscent of a wizard from an old era. His long red hair cascaded over his shoulders, seemingly retaining the smooth texture he had in life. Even though he had been dead for countless years, a hint of arrogance still lingered at the corners of his mouth, as if one could glimpse his personality in life.
He wasn't particularly strong or tall, just the build of a normal male. He was covered in a formal green wizard's robe, with a large and conspicuous seven-pointed star emblem on his chest. The magical radiation unique to formal wizards that emanated from the opened sarcophagus was enough to prove his identity...
"It really is that coffin of the seven-pointed star wizard..."
Nina and Lina both exclaimed in amazement.
Vladimir, however, didn't care about all that. Instead, he looked at the corpse inside the sarcophagus, his gaze sweeping over the necklace around the corpse's neck, the hair ornaments in its hair, the rings on its fingers, and the staff placed beside it... It can only be said that it is indeed a formal wizard. It seems that all the decorations on its body are enchanted magical artifacts, including the wizard's robes it is wearing, which also seem to be enchanted.
A glint of greed flashed in his eyes as he turned to look at the others:
"This gentleman seems even more generous than I imagined..."
"Let's do as we said before, and distribute what we find equally according to its value."
As he spoke, he asked Viktor:
"Victor, Karel has already chosen the bone golem. Since you opened this sarcophagus, you should choose something first."
"Should I choose first?"
Viktor did not immediately agree upon hearing this.
Instead, he turned his gaze to Nina and the others, and was surprised to find that none of them, including Karian, objected, seemingly acquiescing.
Is it because I unlocked the rune lock on the stone coffin in one go that they gave me a slightly higher evaluation?
Viktor understood.
He then stopped being polite and spoke directly:
"Then I shall respectfully comply."
"I'm very interested in this sarcophagus. After all, it's a sarcophagus used by a formal wizard to seal his own body. The runes and magical traps on it are very interesting. I want to study it."
The group exchanged glances.
His choice seemed somewhat unexpected, yet also not entirely surprising.
So Nina nodded in agreement first:
"Alright, then this sarcophagus is yours, Victor."
"Now it's my turn to choose the second item, isn't it?"
Vladimir was already somewhat impatient to speak:
"I choose this staff as my trophy!"
He had his eye on the staff the moment he saw it.
As a wizard's staff used by a formal wizard, it may not be the most valuable item this wizard possesses, but it is definitely among the top three. Vladimir, who was raised by his family from a young age, has a keen eye and immediately took a liking to what is probably the most valuable staff.
Nina and Lina exchanged a glance.
Although I was a little annoyed by his anxiety, I didn't say anything, which was considered tacit agreement.
Vladimir didn't stand on ceremony. He reached out and picked up the staff from the sarcophagus, then examined it carefully. A satisfied expression appeared on his face.
So, that leaves only Nina and Lina without a choice.
Both were female wizards, and their relationship seemed quite good, with no sense of competition. Nina took a ring, and Lina took a necklace... The corpse of the seven-pointed star wizard in the sarcophagus suddenly looked much cleaner.
Even so, there were still three things in the sarcophagus: the remaining ring, a hair ornament, and the corpse of the seven-pointed star wizard himself.
Now that the items have been allocated according to need, the remaining three items will naturally be decided by bidding, with the highest bidder winning. The magic stones from subsequent bids will be divided equally among the remaining people. If no one wants them, they will be sold somewhere, and the magic crystals from the sale will be divided equally among the remaining people.
This is a common method of loot distribution used by wizards when they cooperate, ensuring fairness and impartiality.
Nina served as the host:
"This hair accessory is imbued with a spell, but we don't know exactly what its effect is."
"Does anyone need this?"
As she spoke, she glanced at Lina, because male wizards generally didn't like wearing hair ornaments, so she assumed Lina would want one.
But Lina showed a look of disgust.
Although this hair ornament was also a magical item, she wasn't lacking in magical items, and she was about to receive a large sum of magic stones. If it were anything else, it wouldn't matter, but she certainly didn't want to use something from a dead person for something like a hair ornament to adorn herself...
So she shook her head without hesitation:
"I don't want to!"
Nina paused for a moment, then looked at Victor and the other two:
"And you?"
"First of all, I have no idea about this either."
Vladimir and Karian both glanced at the items, but clearly neither was interested, shaking their heads to indicate they didn't need them.
So the item ended up in Viktor's hands.
Interestingly, perhaps because this item had no known owner, it was deemed equipable by Viktor, and its information popped up again:
[Equipable item detected: Whispers in my ear]
[Upon equipping this item, you will receive the following attribute: Friend Channel lv1 — You can actively create a private chat channel with an object for private conversations regardless of distance. This private chat channel is considered a first-circle sorcery spell and can be intercepted through special means, but cannot be eavesdropped on.]
[Requirement for absorbing equipment: Gain a true friend]
[Replace this equipment?]
Friends channel?
This is getting more and more interesting...
Viktor tilted his head and raised his hand:
"Senior, I'll take it."
"However, this is my first time participating in this kind of loot-sharing activity. How many magic stones should I offer?"
Nina, of course, wouldn't fool him on such a trivial matter, so she smiled and replied:
"Generally speaking, it is divided according to the value of the spoils."
"But the hair accessory you have in your hand, in my opinion, is probably just a fairly common magical item, worth at most between one hundred and two hundred magic stones."
"Then I'll offer one hundred magic stones."
Victor nodded to her and gave her his price.
No one objected, and they handed the items to Viktor.
There was another ring after that, but compared to the hair ornament that Victor got, this ring was significantly more valuable because it was also imbued with a spell, specifically the first-circle "Soul Prison" spell.
The effect is to imprison the enemy's soul and extract its power to convert into one's own magic, essentially creating a portable magic power bank. It's a rather ruthless but practical form of witchcraft.
Of course, this is not a big deal for most wizards.
Several people started vying for it, and Viktor even made two bids, but in the end, Vladimir won the ring for four hundred magic stones, and the others gave up.
Then came the last and most special thing: the seven-pointed star wizard himself... Karian, unsurprisingly, was the first to speak:
"Eight hundred magic stones, and I'll take this corpse!"
