Chapter 31 The Enemy Hidden Among Us {Please Read Further}
I had a brief conversation with Gar.
Victor had dinner with Vivian and Gar.
After eating, Vivian returned to her room, and Garr also respectfully went out and gently closed the door.
Viktor was left alone in the room.
Without hesitation, he walked to the table, took the 'Silver Key' from his equipment inventory, and then equipped the Cave Monster's Eyeball.
In an instant, Viktor felt a sudden surge in his brain.
In an instant, a whole bunch of things appeared in my mind.
After a good ten seconds or so, the chaotic and disordered feeling gradually dissipated, and the large amount of information that had appeared in my mind gradually became clearer, forming a very simple map-like image...
Messy lines, rough markings.
It's barely possible to tell that this is roughly the apartment building where Victor lives.
Another part is easier to understand; it should be the street on one side of the apartment building.
On this simple yet messy map, there are also a considerable number of small dots of various colors... Needless to say, Viktor, who had played many games in his past life, naturally recognized the identities represented by the various colors.
For example, I am a very conspicuous green.
Then in the room next to his own, which was Gal's room, it also showed a clear green.
Looking at the room on the other side of his own, the room where Vivian lived, the color represented by this cheap younger sister was also green.
So green probably represents friendliness, or being on his side.
As for whether he had any other ideas, Viktor guessed that his level 1 minimap was probably not that powerful or intelligent yet, and it was probably only able to determine the general area.
That's why Vivian judged him to be friendly; otherwise, given her personality, even if he wasn't hostile, she wouldn't have been completely unangry towards him.
Aside from Gal and Vivian, the rest are marked with a considerable number of yellow tags.
These are mostly other residents in the apartment building, representing passersby who have no connection to him but are not hostile either.
The number was more than Victor had expected, because he either went to the academy early in the morning or locked himself in his room, so he really didn't pay attention to how many people were in this apartment building.
Looking at it now, the number is actually quite large.
Moreover, the small map has a limited area; it doesn't seem to include the entire building.
"The approximate area... is it around fifty meters?"
Looking at the simple shape drawn on the boundary of the minimap, Victor guessed that it was a street corner.
Then, based on his usual distance to that corner, he quickly estimated that the minimap could cover an area with a radius of about fifty meters centered on him, and all creatures that appeared within that area, regardless of whether they were hostile to him, would be displayed.
To be honest, this distance isn't exactly close, although Victor also wanted the map to cover as much area as possible.
In reality, apart from a few types of witchcraft, most witchcraft used by apprentice wizards has a casting range that is difficult to exceed fifty meters. This means that if someone were to attack Victor, he would be able to detect it.
Victor stood up from his chair and walked around the room.
I feel that the distance is roughly what I expected.
He then prepared to sit back down and check the effect of the second gemstone ring.
Just as he was preparing to change his equipment, he suddenly saw a red dot on the minimap in his mind, walking from outside the apartment building into the apartment... Viktor immediately frowned:
"This is..."
He stood up again, his body surging with magic, ready to unleash his spells at any moment.
However, the little red dot did not seem to move closer to his location. After entering the apartment, it stopped at the end of the corridor.
Viktor thought back for a moment; that should also be a room.
"Is this person who's hostile towards me living in that room?"
His expression changed slightly.
He had always thought he was in a safe situation, but he never expected that just a few dozen meters away lived an unknown entity that was hostile to him!
Although it seems that the other party is not going to attack me immediately.
This, however, made him even more cautious, because if this was surveillance, then it might mean much more...
"We can't just sit here and wait to die!"
Viktor made a decision immediately.
Regardless, we need to at least know this person's purpose.
But when he turned to look out the window, it was already completely dark. There were too many residents in the apartment building, and it would be too much of a commotion to act rashly without knowing the other party's identity.
Moreover, if he harms a large number of ordinary civilians, he might be watched by the Eye of the Star and punished... This does not align with his idea of keeping a low profile and developing slowly.
"At least for now, the other side shouldn't know that I've discovered his problem, which means I have the upper hand." Victor returned to bed, abandoning any intention of continuing to test the gem ring's effects. He closed his eyes and observed the red dot on the minimap:
"Let's see how they are tomorrow. If they are a wizard, then we'll see how strong they are. If I'm no match for them, maybe I can pay a price to ask Nina for help."
"But what if he's just a mortal spy..."
Viktor stopped thinking and forced himself to sleep.
......
Early the next morning.
As usual, Gar greeted Victor with a good morning.
But as soon as he entered, he noticed that Viktor didn't seem to have rested well, so he asked with concern:
"Your Highness, did you not sleep well last night?"
Viktor nodded, pressing a finger to his forehead.
After all, if he could still sleep peacefully knowing there were enemies around, then he must have a very big heart.
So he would wake up almost every night to check the red dot, so he didn't get much sleep.
Although this approach is somewhat cowardly, Victor is self-aware. After all, he is still at the bottom of the wizarding world. Even so, he is already an unattainable existence in the eyes of mortals. However, there are more than nine ways to kill him in the hands of wizards, ninety-nine are more than enough.
Caution, in the end, won't kill him; carelessness and arrogance are the killers that can bring him down.
At that moment, Vivian pushed open the door and walked into the room.
Seeing Victor rubbing his forehead, he didn't pay any attention, but looked at Gar and asked:
What should we eat this morning?
Garr turned his head to look at her, about to answer her, but was interrupted by Viktor:
"Don't think about what to eat right now, Gar."
"Someone who intends to kill me has come to the building... I need to know something about him!"
