Chapter 56 Spiritual Vision
Chapter 56 Spiritual Vision
During the last week of November, Fafnir discovered Martha and Allen practicing clairvoyance.
That afternoon after school, Fafnir returned to his dormitory and passed by Martha's room. The door was open.
He glanced inside and saw Martha sitting on the edge of the bed, her eyes closed, a spiritual energy emanating from between her brows.
Fafner stood in the doorway for a while until she opened her eyes.
"Martha, what's wrong?" Fafnir asked.
Martha was startled, but relaxed when she saw it was Fafnir: "Please come in. Why are you so quiet when you walk?"
"Excuse me," Fafnir said, walking in and sitting down opposite her. "Are you practicing clairvoyance?"
Martha nodded: "Yes, Fafnir, I haven't been successful yet. I've been working on practicing vision lately."
"How long have you been training?" Fafnir asked.
"It's been almost two months," Martha said, lowering her head.
"I practice every night, and sometimes at noon. I've memorized all the steps in the book, but I haven't made any progress. However, I will keep practicing."
Fafnir recalled how, when he was learning clairvoyance, Mr. Victor used a guiding spell to directly induce a state of clairvoyance within him.
He learned it in one night, but that was because Mr. Victor was a Messenger, capable of constructing a stable temporary framework within him.
Martha and Allen didn't have that option.
"Do you want me to help you?" Fafnir asked.
Martha hesitated for a moment: "Wouldn't that be too much trouble for you?"
"Haha, of course it's no trouble."
Fafner had her sit on the edge of the bed and close her eyes.
He sat up straight in the chair and entered a meditative state.
The "ledger" appeared before him.
Spiritual threads appeared in his mind, their silvery-white luster stable and calm. Guided by the "ledger," Fafnir led them outward, through his arms, to his fingertips, and then began to weave.
The guiding framework for clairvoyance is far more complex than basic meditation, which only requires a simple cyclical structure to allow the spirit to briefly linger within the recipient's body.
Vision, on the other hand, requires the recipient to construct a complete perceptual rune—an eye-shaped structure where every line must be precise and every node stable.
Fafnir's spiritual threads spread from his fingertips, and he began to weave layer by layer, first building the outer frame, then filling the interior, and finally reinforcing the nodes.
"Don't be nervous," Fafnir said. "Follow my spirit, don't resist, and don't force it."
Martha took a deep breath and slowly relaxed.
The threads continued to weave, and Fafnir could feel his spirituality being rapidly depleted. His temples began to throb, but he did not stop. After about two minutes, the entire framework was finally completed.
An eye-shaped rune, woven from silvery-white spiritual threads, hovered between Martha's eyebrows, steadily emitting a faint glow.
"Can you feel it?" Fafnir asked.
Martha had her eyes closed, her brow slightly furrowed.
"I see... silvery-white threads, right before my eyes. And a rune, like... like an eye."
“That’s the Vision Rune,” Fafnir withdrew his hand. “Try to infuse it with spiritual threads to build it.”
Fafnir used his spiritual vision to observe the spiritual aura emanating from her body, beneath that layer of grayish-white mist...
Martha, through the guiding ritual of the "ledger," infused spiritual threads, gradually completing the construction of the vision runes.
Although it's unstable, at least it hasn't collapsed.
About two minutes later, Martha opened her eyes and let out a long breath.
"The vision rune has dissipated," Martha said.
"It's already very good if you can maintain it for two minutes," Fafnir said. "This framework can probably be used for a month. If you can build the vision rune on your own within a month, then you've truly mastered it."
Martha nodded and said earnestly, "Fafner, thank you so much."
"You're welcome." Fafnir stood up and walked to the door. "I'll go find Allen."
Alan's room was next door. Fafnir knocked on the door and waited a while before it opened.
Allen stood in the doorway, a pen in his hand. On the table were open books and papers covered in writing. He saw Fafnir and paused for a moment. "Is there something you need?"
"I've already helped your sister. I came to see you. Are you also practicing Spirit Vision?" Fafnir asked.
Allen nodded: "I've been practicing for almost a month now. I started later than Martha because I had been working on solidifying my basic meditation techniques, but I hadn't made much progress."
"It's alright, let me take a look."
Allen sat down in the chair and closed his eyes.
Fafnir entered meditation and activated his spiritual vision. The grayish-white mist around Allen's body was even lighter than Martha's, and the spiritual threads beneath were barely visible.
Fafnir withdrew his spiritual vision and planned to use the "ledger" to construct a temporary guiding spell for him.
"Martha just sensed the Vision Rune," he said.
"real?"
"Yes, I helped her build a bootstrapping framework, and she can maintain it for about two minutes now," Fafnir asked.
"Why don't you give it a try?"
Allen nodded. "Thank you."
Fafnir helped him sit down in the chair, closed his eyes, and silvery-white spiritual threads spread from his fingertips, drifting towards Allen's brow.
Ellen's spirituality was slightly weaker than Martha's, but she was more stable when receiving guidance, and the whole process was not very turbulent.
A few minutes later, the frame was complete.
"Can you see it?" Fafnir asked.
After a few seconds of silence, Allen's voice squeezed out from his throat: "Thank you, I see it, the psychic rune."
"Keep it steady."
Allen remained silent. Fafnir used his clairvoyance to observe the spiritual aura emanating from Allen's body; the clairvoyance frame was quietly operating on the outer side of his brow.
Not only is it stable, but it is also very clear—every thread is in the right position without any unnecessary fluctuations.
Fafnir recalled what Mr. Victor had said: Everyone has a different affinity for the spiritual; Alan probably has a slightly higher affinity. His total spiritual capacity isn't high, but his control over the spiritual realm should be stronger than Martha's.
This lasted for nearly five minutes.
When Allen opened his eyes, his face showed a little fatigue, but was full of excitement.
"How are you feeling?" Fafnir asked.
"Very good," Allen said. "It's much better than when I practiced on my own before. Before, when I practiced on my own, I always felt like I couldn't control my spirituality at all."
With this channeling technique, I can easily construct vision runes.
Fafnir nodded: "This framework should last about a month. Before it dissipates, just make it your own."
Allen was silent for a moment, then suddenly asked, "Fafner, how long did it take you to learn psychic vision?"
Fafnir thought for a moment: "Mr. Victor guided me, probably for one night."
Allen looked up, a slight smile playing on his lips. "Fafner, thank you."
