Chapter 7: Classic Yet Different Lists
Chapter 7: Classic Yet Different Lists
"Young Master wishes to hear, but I do not wish to speak," Ji Baizhi said, unusually showing a willingness to resist.
Just moments ago, she was helping to boil water, carrying buckets into the bathhouse, serving him like a maid.
"If you're not going to say anything, why don't you leave?" Li Zhi looked at Ji Baizhi's upright figure. "You just want to tell me something, so go ahead and say it. I don't mind."
I don't mind being a listener, I don't mind hearing your complaints.
"Young Master has indeed seen through my thoughts again. You are truly remarkable, not only in your character but also in your cultivation." Ji Baizhi's words were loaded with meaning.
"No matter what you say, I won't change." Li Zhi poked at the water in the bucket, making a splashing sound. "Let's be honest with each other."
To be honest, you don't like the way I talk, and I don't like your subtle, sarcastic remarks either.
Ji Baizhi remained silent for a long time before finally replying, "I still don't want to tell my story."
"Then let's tell a different story, one that's not yours. That Lin Yueyin, you noticed something just now, didn't you?"
"I don't understand, young master. What are you thinking?" Ji Baizhi retorted with her usual sullen tone. "Talking about another woman in front of one is very inappropriate, young master. Don't you know that?"
"Now I'm a little curious, how long exactly have you been locked up, Phoenix? You've turned into a bitter woman."
"It's been a long time."
After saying this with some sighs, Ji Baizhi finally realized what was happening, snorted coldly, and turned her face away, indicating that she didn't want to talk to Li Zhi.
"If you won't tell me, then I will," Li Zhi laughed. "A princess who was once highly regarded, a phoenix reincarnated, has ended up like this, living alone in a remote courtyard without even a servant."
With each word she spoke, Ji Baizhi's shoulders tensed up a little more.
After she finished speaking, she lowered her head and ignored him, but her slender body still trembled slightly.
Like a candle flickering in the wind, like a banana leaf in the rain.
He saw it, but pretended not to.
Li Zhi continued to deliver the final blow, his tone calm:
"So it's normal for you to have some resentment, I can understand that. What I can't understand is why you're taking it all out on me. Could it be that...?"
"Young Master, please stop." Ji Baizhi interrupted Li Zhi's analysis, standing up and saying somewhat forcefully, "Let's get back to Lin Yueyin's matter."
Li Zhi chimed in, "It seems your method is the one I guessed."
Ji Baizhi's face turned slightly red.
It wasn't a pale red, but a crimson, as red as the sunset, as intoxicated, as if some unspeakable secret had been suddenly revealed.
Seeing this, Li Zhi knew he had made the right decision.
Ji Baizhi stood there, took a few deep breaths, and thought:
Now I can only change the subject by using something more interesting.
So she made a bold statement: "If I'm not mistaken, she should be from the Heavenly Sect."
The new term piqued Li Zhi's interest: "What is the Heavenly Sect?"
"The largest sect in the south," Ji Baizhi continued to explain, "is most skilled in prophecy and ranking."
Hearing this, Li Zhi became even more interested: "What are the rankings for the classic segments?"
"Just two." Seeing that Li Zhi didn't continue what he was saying, Ji Baizhi breathed a sigh of relief: "The list of promising young talents who have the potential to become Grandmasters, and the list of peerless masters who have already become Grandmasters."
"Is there a seventh realm for Grandmasters?"
"That's right," Ji Baizhi replied softly, "The Seven Realms are the watershed of cultivation."
Li Zhi was not surprised by this answer. His entry clearly stated that he did not encounter any bottlenecks before reaching the seventh realm.
Moreover, there is a real-life example right in front of me.
Ji Baizhi is clearly the female protagonist of this game, but she is still trapped in the Seven Realms.
According to the script, she should rise to power overnight, like a phoenix soaring and shocking the world.
"Given this situation, you should be the first person in the younger generation to potentially break through to the Grandmaster level." Li Zhi clapped his hands: "Top Ranking Lady, amazing."
"Young master, you're talking nonsense again. I'm not the eldest sister at my age." Ji Baizhi shook her head. "Besides, I'm not the top of the list either."
"There's actually someone even more powerful than you?" Li Zhi was somewhat surprised. "Is being a phoenix reincarnation really that bad?"
"That's not the reason," Ji Baizhi said, somewhat exasperated. "It's because I wasn't even on the list."
To prevent Li Zhi from saying anything strange again, Ji Baizhi preemptively explained, "As for the specific reason, you will know after I finish explaining."
"Oh, you're making me guess? That's interesting," Li Zhi said. "Go on, or we'll discuss your method."
Ji Baizhi was afraid that he would bring up that embarrassing topic again, so she quickly continued, "Young master, aren't you curious why there isn't a list for those above the seventh realm, and why the Grandmaster list is called Peerless?"
"I'm somewhat interested. Tell me more."
"Those who have reached the Eighth Realm and have mastered the rules of heaven and earth are practically gods. How dare you slander them?"
"The eighth realm is already this powerful," Li Zhi replied. "Then how powerful is the ninth realm?"
"The Nine Realms are the path to immortality."
Li Zhi hadn't forgotten the name of the game he entered: Wen Changsheng.
"No matter how powerful your cultivation, you can't defeat immortality?" Li Zhi said, "You don't mean that's what these two realms are referring to, do you?"
"Yes and no, young master, you've misspoke a word," Ji Baizhi said softly. "It's 'cannot attain immortality.'"
Gaining and defeating are not the same thing.
Li Zhi instantly thought of many things, and he looked at Ji Baizhi with a serious expression: "Who told you this?"
"My master," Ji Baizhi answered firmly, "is very strong. Although I don't know her cultivation level, I sense it's extremely high."
"I see. I'll ask you when I see your master." Li Zhiqi's interest vanished again; the answer was still too far off for him at the moment.
"Young master, what have you thought of?" Ji Baizhi asked with great interest.
"It's too far for me, and you're not exactly close either." Li Zhi looked at Ji Baizhi: "Let's not talk about this, let's talk about something else, like your method."
Upon hearing this, Ji Baizhi reacted somewhat nervously and immediately changed the subject: "Let's get back to the Grandmaster Ranking. The reason it's called the Peerless Ranking is quite simple: because the path to the Seventh Realm is unparalleled in the world."
"Unparalleled in the world?"
"That's right, there can only be one Seven Realms on a single path."
"Is it this rolled up?" Li Zhi asked. "Then how many people are on this Peerless Ranking?"
"Forty-nine," Ji Baizhi said. "According to the Heavenly Sect, they only rank the founders."
"What's the difference?" Li Zhi was somewhat confused.
"The path of a grandmaster can be passed down," Ji Baizhi said. "As long as the old grandmaster passes away, a new grandmaster can follow in his footsteps."
"Does that mean that those on the list of prodigies are all capable of forging a new path?" Li Zhi thought of what had just been said. "So, the fact that you, the phoenix reincarnation, didn't make the list means that you are also a successor."
"That's right." Ji Baizhi nodded. "Moreover, Lin Yueyin from earlier was also an inheritor, and what she inherited should be the sword from the Sword Sect."
"What sword?"
"Cheng Ying".
As soon as he finished speaking, the steam in the shower room seemed to freeze for a moment.
"Cheng Ying..." Li Zhi repeated the name, his tone somewhat subtle, "It sounds like this must be pretty impressive."
