Chapter 93 Review Committee
Chapter 93 Review Committee
Sunlight streamed through the huge stained-glass windows, and the Carlos faction leader deliberately drew back the curtains and sat by the window to bask in the sun.
When he saw his daughter take the initiative to come to him, a hint of surprise and doting flashed in his eyes.
He put down his quill pen and took out an exquisite white teacup from the drawer. It was specially prepared for Eve, but she rarely had the chance to use it.
The Carlos faction leader poured himself a cup of herbal tea with a calming floral aroma from his teapot and added three sugar cubes.
"Eve, what brings you here today?" Carlos gently pushed the teacup towards her, his tone tinged with affection.
Eve took the teacup, sipped the warm tea, and without much small talk, explained her purpose directly, placing the paper and medicine on the large desk.
"This is the result of Leon Carlson and his research group's promotion project, and we are applying for review."
Carlos smiled with satisfaction.
"See, I told you you could do it. You've already produced a Silver Crucible winner, and now you've produced the results of your research so quickly."
Eve remained calm and gently set down her teacup: "It has nothing to do with me; it's his own talent and hard work."
Carlos understood his daughter's temperament, smiled, said nothing more, and picked up the paper to begin reading. At first, his expression still carried the gentleness of an elder looking at the achievements of a younger generation, but soon his expression became focused, his brows furrowed slightly, and his eyes occasionally flashed with surprise and contemplation.
"Sustained-release structures... achieving precise controlled release by utilizing the properties of common materials... this is an unprecedented idea that breaks out of the existing framework, but it is theoretically feasible..."
He murmured to himself, slowing down as he read, occasionally flipping back to look at certain details.
After finishing the paper, he picked up the bottle of medicine again and examined it closely. Inside the dark red liquid, the yellow capsule slowly floated.
Carlos took out a pair of crystal glasses inlaid with fine runes from the drawer and put them on. A flash of light appeared on the glasses, and he examined every detail of the potion more carefully through the lenses.
Just then, there was a gentle knock on the office door, and Professor Karin walked in with two more papers and some medicine.
She saw the faction leader intently examining the potion, while Eve sat quietly to the side drinking tea. She silently bowed, found an empty seat, and waited patiently.
After observing for a long time, Carlos slowly opened the bottle cap, carefully sniffed the aroma, and then used a small pair of silver tweezers to very carefully remove the yellow capsule, placing it on a white porcelain plate to examine its structure and texture.
Finally, he used a thin dropper to draw a drop of medicine and dripped it into another white porcelain plate. A silver-white ferret emerged from his wide sleeves and swallowed the drop of medicine that had landed on the plate.
Immediately, the ferret's eyes turned bright red, and Carlos, wearing his glasses, carefully observed the ferret's changes.
After a long while, he took off his glasses, let out a long sigh of relief, and his face was full of amazement and admiration.
He looked at Eve, then at Karin, and said solemnly, "A truly remarkable potion... This potion is highly consistent with the description in the paper. Its design is ingenious, and its effects are remarkable. In particular, the design of this sustained-release capsule is a groundbreaking innovation that could change the development approach of many drugs with high side effects."
He paused, then continued, "Based on my initial assessment, this research result is fully qualified, even far exceeding the standards. However, according to the procedure, it still needs to be reviewed and approved by at least two other review committee members. I will convene a review meeting as soon as possible."
Upon hearing this, Eve and Karin rose and bowed.
"Thank you for your hard work. Go back and wait for the news. We'll let you know as soon as the results are out," Carlos said kindly.
After seeing Eve and Karin off, the head of the Carlos faction turned his gaze back to the author page of the paper, and a hopeful smile appeared on his face as he looked at the name "Leon Carlson" listed first.
After submitting his research project, Li Ang's pace of life slowed down dramatically, and he entered a rare period of free time. However, Li Ang would never allow himself to truly be idle.
Although the time is not fixed every day, he always follows the Eighth Squad on patrol missions without fail. The airspace around Riley City is now as familiar to him as his own backyard.
The occasional low-level monsters that do appear are usually wiped out in a single encounter with the skillful coordination of the enforcement team, posing no threat whatsoever.
Captain Eric was increasingly satisfied with Li Ang's performance, and several team members also admired Li Ang greatly. Although the enforcement team did not have a vice-captain position, Li Ang's prestige within the team was now almost equal to that of Captain Eric.
Aside from daily patrols, I went to the fifth floor for classes every day. Although the project ended, the research group was not disbanded; we just didn't spend every day together anymore.
With Captain Eric's permission, Maya was allowed to continue training in the practice room during her free time, while Harris plunged into the library, supposedly wanting to catch up with Leon's pace.
Li Ang devoted most of his free time to meditation.
On the afternoon of the third day after submitting the project, Li Ang, moved by a sudden thought, immediately closed the [Gentle Breeze Barrier] and ended his meditation.
After a knock on the door, Ginny's voice came from outside.
"Lord Leon, Instructor Eve requests your presence."
Since binding the [Precognition Ring], Li Ang's sixth sense has become terrifyingly strong from time to time. Just now, he suddenly sensed that Ginny was standing outside the door looking for him, so he deliberately stopped meditating. Sure enough, Ginny's voice came from outside the door.
Following Ginny into Eve's living room, Leon felt that his mentor Eve seemed to be in a good mood today. Although she still had that aloof expression on her face, Leon could see a hint of relaxation in her expression.
"Have a seat," Eve said, gesturing to the sofa next to her for Li Ang to sit down.
After Li Ang sat down, Eve didn't beat around the bush and said directly:
"Your research findings were approved by the review committee on the very day they were submitted."
Upon hearing this, Li Ang felt reassured, but Eve's next words surprised him slightly.
"The reason I took three days to notify you is because this achievement has been selected by the judging committee as the entry potion to represent our Riley Wizard Tower in this year's 'Alliance Innovation Competition'."
"The Alliance Innovation Competition?" This was the first time Li Ang had heard this term.
"Mm." Eve nodded slightly.
"Organized by the Wizarding Alliance, it's held every five years. Each tower submits its most innovative potions or magical artifacts to compete. Ostensibly, it's to promote exchange, but in reality..."
She paused, her tone calm yet tinged with a hint of helplessness.
"...It concerns the allocation of seats in the Alliance Council for each Tower over the next five years. The more seats, the greater the influence. The 'Alliance Friendly Match' will be held concurrently, with the same purpose, except that the latter will be decided by force."
