Chapter 21 The Potions Workshop
Chapter 21 The Potions Workshop
"Please follow me," the female attendant said as she stepped out of the wooden door. Li Ang had no choice but to follow her out as well. But as soon as he stepped out, he discovered that the corridor outside was no longer the three-story one he had seen before.
This truly gave Li Ang a little shock about witchcraft. After all, the so-called witchcraft he had come into contact with so far seemed to him to be nothing special.
This is a huge circular room, with the walls completely occupied by built-in medicine cabinets. Countless crystal bottles, pottery jars, and wooden boxes are neatly arranged, containing all sorts of strange and wonderful materials.
In the center of the room was a huge crystal crucible, and below the crucible was a dark object, which Li Ang guessed was some kind of fire source.
Surrounding the crucible is a circular worktable made of some kind of ferrous metal, on which are placed various small instruments such as distillers, grinding dishes, and balances.
In the corner of the room were many large objects that Li Ang couldn't name, and at this moment a series of data appeared in Li Ang's eyes.
[High-Quality Crystal Crucible Lv0] [Magic Heat Furnace Lv0] [Eternal Frost Rune Cabinet Lv0] [Dragon's Breath Temperature Chamber]...
There were so many things here; every single item was a wizard's facility. This made Li Ang's heart race instantly, and he felt like he had come to the right place.
Behind the worktable, a figure with his back to them was observing the reaction of a drug solution in a test tube.
She was not tall, and wore a black robe of fine quality and well-tailored fit, except that the fabric on her upper body was stretched taut.
Her long, light blue hair cascaded down like a waterfall, reaching her waist, with the tips of her sharp, inhuman-looking ears peeking out from between the strands.
The female attendant bowed respectfully: "Lady Eve, Apprentice Leon Carlson has arrived."
The man turned around upon hearing the sound.
Li Ang saw an extremely delicate face, with skin so white it was almost transparent, and a pair of large, clear, light blue eyes that were like bottomless, icy pools, devoid of any emotional fluctuation.
Her facial features combined to create a cool, ethereal beauty, while her long, pointed ears added to her mystique.
Her gaze first swept over Li Ang, scrutinizing him for a moment, before she spoke to the wizard's attendant:
"You can go now."
Although her voice was cold and devoid of emotion, it could not hide her youthful tone.
"Yes." The female attendant bowed and withdrew, the door closing quietly behind her.
Only Li Ang and Eve, the mentor who looked like a young girl but had an air of maturity, remained in the room.
She put down the test tube in her hand, stepped out of the worktable, and walked towards Li Ang.
Her steps were very light, almost silent.
"Leon Carlson." She stopped a few steps in front of Leon, her light blue eyes looking directly at him.
"I saw the medicine that Mori sent."
Her tone contained no praise or questioning, but simply stated the facts.
"No prior experience required, half a day, two sets of materials, one qualified, one excellent, using pure water condensed by the [Water Creation Technique]."
She paused, then continued, "You have great ideas, and you're lucky too."
Li Ang remained silent, nodded slightly, and waited for her to continue.
"I rarely take on apprentices on my own initiative."
Eve continued in her flat tone, "It's tedious and mostly silly, but you've passed my test, so I can give you a chance."
She raised her hand, her fingertips lightly touching the air, and a badge appeared out of thin air, hovering above her palm.
The badge was pure silver, with an exquisitely engraved cauldron pattern, the very symbol of the Potions School, but with slight differences in details, including a small, ice-crystal-like symbol on the side.
"Become my apprentice." Her words were very direct.
"When I'm not using it, you can use this workshop freely. Sometimes there are some low-level potion refining commissions piling up in the workshop. You can accept them, and after deducting the cost of materials, the remaining reward is yours."
Her gaze swept over the various valuable facilities and equipment around her.
"However," she emphasized, her tone hardening with an undeniable firmness.
"If any equipment in the workshop is damaged, you will be required to pay for it at cost. If you can't afford to pay, then you can't afford to pay."
Eve clearly hadn't figured out what to do if the boy in front of her damaged the priceless items here.
The items here are so expensive they cost thousands of gold coins, and even the cheapest ones cost several silver coins. Even if you sold them, you couldn't afford to lose money.
Finally, she remembered something and continued:
"I'll force-feed you a life-saving potion and have you work here for free for hundreds of years. That should be enough to pay off your debts."
Li Ang's heart pounded with excitement. Freedom to use this obviously high-class workshop? Taking on pharmaceutical commissions to earn money and practice opportunities? These were conditions tailor-made for him!
As for needing to pay for the damaged equipment, he wasn't too worried. He just needed to be careful, and even if it was damaged, there was no danger to his life. He could just pay for it gradually.
"I am honored to be your apprentice, Mentor Eve."
Li Ang did not hesitate and respectfully replied.
Eve's face remained expressionless, as if she had expected this answer.
With a gentle push, the floating badge flew steadily to Li Ang's side.
"The badge is your credentials; it grants you access to this workshop. The workshop's rules and commission list are on that wall over there."
She pointed to a dark wooden board hanging on the side of the workbench.
"If you have any silly questions, feel free to ask me about an hour after dinner."
"But I don't have time to answer those basic questions; you can take classes and learn them on your own."
Li Ang took the badge; it was cold to the touch, and faint magical energy swirled around it.
"After you've read the rules of use, you can leave."
After Eve finished speaking, she stopped looking at him and turned back to her worktable, as if Li Ang no longer existed.
"Yes, Instructor Eve." Leon gripped the badge tightly, bowed, suppressed his excitement, and walked to the wooden board to examine it carefully.
Several rules were written on the wooden board in white paint, which was still wet, indicating that they had just been written not long ago.
1. All matters unrelated to the refining of potions are prohibited within the workshop.
2. You need to register with your badge when you take materials.
3. Damaged equipment must be compensated at its original price.
IV. Apprentices are prohibited from using the workshop from 20:00 to 6:00 daily.
In addition to these rules, several request forms were also posted on the wooden board…
Most of the rules were what Instructor Eve had just mentioned. As for the usage time, Li Ang was overjoyed. That meant he could use it for fourteen hours a day? No, no, no, he couldn't be so optimistic. It wasn't like he was the only apprentice using it.
After confirming the information, Li Ang glanced at Eve, who was busy refining potions, and did not disturb her further.
He bowed slightly, then turned and quietly left the workshop filled with the scent of herbs and a faint body fragrance. Indeed, Instructor Eve was not only voluptuous but also very fragrant.
