Chapter 496: The Future

Inside Yue Xin’s room, she sat by the tea table alone.

As the lights of the candles swayed, she fidgeted and shifted her body around while she waited anxiously for Lin Xuan Qi to be back.

She had been thinking about how she would share the good news with him.

So far, she had thought about maybe giving him hints like getting dolls, talking about how to bring up a child, or maybe keeping mum and waiting until it was the third month of pregnancy when the symptoms would start showing.

It took her some time but she finally settled on the most direct way to do so.

The doors of her room opened.

Lin Xuan Qi entered the room and closed the doors behind him.

"I heard you have something to discuss with me?" He asked and looked carefully at the expression on Yue Xin’s face.

She was anxious with her eyebrows drawn together and she was tugging at the side of her sleeve.

That made him suspect that she had known about her pregnancy and it would be indeed great news for him.

Things would be so much easier from now on.

Yue Xin took a deep breath, mustered the courage she needed and said, "Xuan Qi... I.. Erm... I have something important to tell you.

"Sit down and get ready for it first."

Lin Xuan Qi pretended not to know what it was about and sat beside her.

"Don’t you need some time to get prepared?"

"Fine. I’ll have some tea first."

Lin Xuan Qi poured himself a cup of tea and took a sip from it.

And while he was doing so, he peeked at her to see her response.

"Really?" Lin Xuan Qi held onto her arms and asked.

Yue Xin nodded her head at him and said, "He had given me a prescription to stabilize the child and asked me to take good care of myself."

"That is such a huge surprise for me!" He said it with genuine excitement, having been able to share his joy with someone finally.

Lin Xuan Qi placed his hands onto hers and said, "Then, you should do what the physician said.

"Remember to take the prescription diligently and take good care of yourself.

"You aren’t alone anymore."

He wanted to give her a lecture on being more mature and motherly but he refrained himself from doing so.

Nagging at someone never worked and it would be best for Yue Xin to adapt all by herself.

She had been like a young mistress when she came to the mansion and she was able to learn and adapt to life as a servant girl before she got married to him.

He was confident that she would ease into the role of being a mother too.

And in the worst case scenario, there was Xue Cong and Yue Jie around to help her with it.

"I know..." Yue Xin let out a long sigh and lowered her head.

She knew what she had to do but she was afraid that she might somehow forget or be careless with things.

He saw her face of concern and patted the back of her hand.

"Don’t worry, I will get a nanny to take care of you when the time comes."

Even though Mei Jiao was experienced, he thought that it might be inconvenient for him to be asking Mei Jiao to do so.

Especially when he knew that Xue Cong was also pregnant not far behind.

Mei Jiao taking care of both as a nanny might be too much for her.

So he would rather get a nanny for Yue Xin.

"Now, you should have a good rest for the night and don’t stay up too late." He said and Yue Xin nodded her head.

That was what she did.

Lin Xuan Qi sat by the side of the bed and chatted about many things with her about their child.

They talked about whether he preferred a girl or a boy, about what name they should give and what if the child was too naughty for their own good.

It was nothing but what they thought about for the future.

And when she got too tired and closed her eyes, he got up and left for his room.

He reeked of the wine he had earlier and he wanted to wash up before he got to bed.

As he wasn’t supposed to be with Yue Xin for the night, he swapped with Yue Jie who was scheduled and she agreed to it.

It was after all, a significant night for her sister, and she was more than happy to make it so for her.

When Lin Xuan Qi woke up, he saw Yue Xin’s smiling face in front of him.

She had gotten his new set of clothes ready and helped him to put it on after he had washed up.

Lin Xuan Qi could see that she was in a good mood after the night.

Maybe it was the chat he had with her or maybe she was now confident about being a mother but either way, he was glad for her to be so.

That was one thing that he liked about her.

She didn’t dwell on things too much and was back to her normal self the very next day.

After he was done changing into a fresh set of clothes, they went over to the dining hall to have breakfast.

And when he saw them, Lin Xuan Qi felt a sense of relief at the smiling faces of Xue Cong and Yue Jie.
