Chapter 110 The Long Night Has Ended
The first person to enter the frame is Professor McGonagall. She walks hurriedly, her usually meticulously styled hair is somewhat disheveled, and her tightly pursed lips and sharp eyes reveal deep worry and vigilance.
She gripped her wand tightly, ready for battle.
Professor Flitwick followed closely behind.
His small figure slipped silently into the room, his movements exceptionally swift.
He stopped at the door as soon as he entered, gripping his wand tightly, his eyes scanning every corner of the room with incredible speed, demonstrating his extensive combat experience.
Hermione poked her head out from beside Professor Sprout, who was following closely behind, and called out anxiously, "Harry! Are you here? I brought the professors!"
Lynch looked at Dumbledore and gestured for him to proceed.
Clearly, their conversation had been interrupted, and Dumbledore needed to attend to several anxious professors.
Dumbledore went to the next room to comfort the professors and Hermione, who was so worried she was about to cry.
Lin Qi then Apparated to the door of the school clinic, then pushed the door open and went inside.
Harry was lying quietly asleep on the white hospital bed, his face still a little pale.
Lying on the hospital bed next to him was his good friend Ron.
They were both fast asleep at that moment.
Madam Pomfrey stood by Harry's bedside, her wand moving over his body as she performed a more thorough examination.
Hearing the door open, Mrs. Pomfrey turned around and saw Lynch.
Because of their teaching collaboration over the past academic year, Mrs. Pomfrey and Lynch were fairly familiar with each other.
Upon seeing Lin Qi, the tension on her face eased slightly, and she nodded in greeting:
Good evening, Professor Lynch.
She greeted Lynch and then turned back to continue checking on Harry's condition.
"Good evening, Mrs. Pomfrey." Lynch nodded in return, then asked, "How is Harry?"
"He's fine," Madam Pomfrey replied dutifully. "He has some scrapes and bruises, which have been treated. The more serious issue is the impact on his soul, but thankfully it's not too severe; he'll recover with a few days of rest. I've given him some potions to make sure he can sleep until tomorrow."
Lin Qi nodded: "That's good."
He chatted with Mrs. Pomfrey for a few more minutes about Harry's situation.
The door to the school clinic was pushed open again.
Dumbledore walked in, followed by Professor McGonagall, whose face showed worry, and behind her came Hermione, who looked anxious.
Dumbledore has asked Professors Flitwick and Sprout to go back and rest.
As the Head of Gryffindor House, Professor McGonagall felt obligated to check on the two Gryffindor students lying in the infirmary.
After learning from Dumbledore that Harry was safe, Professor McGonagall wanted Hermione to return to the Gryffindor Tower to rest.
But because of Hermione's pleading and the fact that both of her best friends were in the school infirmary, Professor McGonagall finally made an exception and did not send her back immediately. Instead, she took her along, intending to let her see her two friends before sending her back.
Professor McGonagall and Hermione were taken aback when they saw Lynch, who should have been in the Forbidden Forest stone house, appear in the school infirmary.
Dumbledore spoke up at the opportune moment: "Professor Lynch, you've arrived very quickly. I thought you would be a little longer."
Upon hearing Dumbledore's words, Professor McGonagall and Hermione assumed that Dumbledore had summoned Lynch, so they stopped looking at Lynch.
Instead, they gathered around Harry's bedside.
Not long after, Snape slipped silently into the infirmary like a bat. His dark eyes first swept over Harry on the bed to make sure he was still alive, before turning his cold and probing gaze to Lynch and Dumbledore.
After calming the professors who had come to protect the Philosopher's Stone, Dumbledore sent a message to Snape, who was anxiously waiting for news in his office. He knew that if he didn't inform Snape of the outcome in time, he would probably be worried sick all night.
That's why Snape was able to get to the school infirmary in time.
Snape, Professor McGonagall, and Hermione all focused their attention on Harry, who was lying in the hospital bed.
"How is Harry?" Hermione asked anxiously before anyone else could speak.
Looking at the several pairs of eyes that had turned towards me, filled with concern and inquiry.
Mrs. Pomfrey had no choice but to explain Harry's condition to them again.
During the conversation, Professor McGonagall asked a few questions about Ron's condition and learned that Ron would be fully recovered by the next morning.
Snape stood to the side, arms crossed, saying nothing, but taking in every word Madam Pomfrey said.
Finally, amidst Hermione's incessant questioning, Madam Pomfrey expelled them all from the infirmary—under the pretext that the patients needed quiet rest.
Although Madam Pomfrey appeared polite and kind because of Dumbledore's presence, the way the school infirmary door slammed shut behind them revealed the healer's temperament.
Standing in the quiet corridor, the atmosphere became somewhat silent for a moment.
Dumbledore spoke first: "Professor McGonagall, would you please escort Miss Granger back to her dormitory? It's very late, and young wizards need plenty of sleep to thrive."
"Yes, Headmaster Dumbledore." Professor McGonagall replied, nodding to Snape and Lynch before preparing to leave.
"Good night, Professor Dumbledore, Professor Lynch... Professor Snape."
Hermione said goodbye to the professors who were standing there, and then obediently followed Professor McGonagall.
Once the two women disappeared around the corner of the corridor, Snape immediately turned to look at Dumbledore and Lynch.
But before he could speak, Dumbledore interrupted him:
"Not here, Severus. Let's talk in my office."
Snape's fingers tightened slightly beneath his black robes.
"I won't go," Lin Qi said.
Dumbledore and Snape turned their gazes to Lynch.
"I need to rest too," Lynch said.
The image of Voldemort and Lynch's souls colliding flashed through Dumbledore's mind. Clearly, although Lynch was behaving normally now,
But that collision probably caused him some real damage.
So he nodded: "Good night, Mr. Lynch."
Lynch nodded to Dumbledore and Snape, and the three parted ways in the corridor.
After the war, Dumbledore reactivated all of Hogwarts' defensive magic, so Apparition was disabled again, and the three of them left on foot.
After walking a distance, Lynch turned back to look at Dumbledore and Snape's departing figures.
It's unclear how much of the truth Dumbledore will reveal to Snape this time.
Lin Qi thought to himself.
A mocking smile curled at the corner of his mouth; he knew he wouldn't tell them everything.
Lynch left the castle, crossed the grounds, walked along the stone path, and returned to his stone house.
Outside the stone house, two Aurors were sleeping soundly.
After thoughtfully applying earplugs and some protective magic to the two of them, Lin Qi went inside.
After meticulously washing up, Lin Qi lay down on the bed and drifted off to sleep.
The long night is finally over.
Moonlight pierced through the dark clouds and shone into Lin Qi's bedroom, illuminating his tightly furrowed brows in his dream.
