Chapter 70 Leo's Method and... Walking into a Trap?
Chapter 70 Leo's Method and... Walking into a Trap?
Seeing the oppressive silence fall over everyone, York couldn't help but speak again, his voice carrying a barely perceptible hint of evasion:
"The other party's target is clearly Senior Leo, could this mean...?"
"What do you mean?!"
An apprentice from the Tower of Eternity nearby immediately exploded, glaring angrily.
"You're saying all of this was caused by Senior Leo?! Don't forget, he saved our lives from those monsters!"
"No, no, no! You've misunderstood! That's not what I meant!"
York felt his scalp tingle from the unfriendly stares of the crowd and quickly waved his hands in protest.
"I mean, is it possible that this group of enemies... was specifically trained to deal with Senior Leo? After all, their core target is Senior Leo!"
He said this aloud, but inwardly he couldn't help but mutter to himself:
If it weren't for Leo, they wouldn't have suffered such heavy losses. So many people died because of him!
York's words are not entirely without merit.
Leo's calm voice broke the escalating argument.
He ignored York's ulterior motives and calmly analyzed the situation:
"The fact that they are targeting me like this must be because they are acting on orders from their 'master.' Those who can command such monstrous beings to bow down and call them 'master' are certainly not ordinary, formal wizards..."
His gaze swept over the crowd, and he said, enunciating each word clearly: "They might even be... second-level wizards!"
Everyone gasped!
It's hard to believe, but thinking about it carefully sends chills down your spine!
The knowledge, resources, and methods required to complete such a large-scale, high-success-rate deep body modification are far beyond the reach of ordinary formal wizards!
The energy and will behind driving so many elites to hunt down one person at all costs can only be explained by a higher level of existence!
"Then... what do we do now?"
York's voice carried a hint of genuine panic, "They definitely won't let us go! Especially you, senior!"
The room fell silent once again.
Although Evans Manor is safe for the time being, they cannot remain here forever; the exchange meeting is the final destination of their trip.
"What are you afraid of?!"
The apprentice who had just berated York retorted defiantly, "So what if we withdraw from this exchange meeting! They can't possibly chase us to the academy to kill us after the meeting, can they?"
He gave York a disdainful look.
"alright."
Leo's voice carried an undeniable determination: "If their target is only me... then I'm withdrawing from this exchange."
Upon hearing Leo's words, Srian was clearly a little anxious and quickly tried to stop him: "Leo, you..."
He looked at Sirian, his gaze stopping her from offering any further advice.
"I believe you will arrive safely once I leave. This matter arose because of me, and I will naturally bear the consequences."
Sirian opened her mouth, but when she met Leo's determined gaze, she swallowed her words back, her eyes filled with worry and resentment.

Meanwhile, in the shadows high above the manor.
"Sir, the target is in that manor ahead."
In Hick's palm, the white, doll-like Sean glowed faintly, pointing down to the scenic hilltop estate below.
The arriving dark wizards hesitated as they gazed at the manor, which exuded the subtle aura of a legitimate wizard.
Brown, forcing a smile, said, "Sir, the manor ahead... has the aura of a formal wizard in charge. If we force our way in, I'm afraid..."
Although Brown behind them didn't finish his sentence, the implication was clear: they couldn't get up there.
Attacking an apprentice can be considered part of the hunting season, but attacking a full-fledged wizard is a completely different matter.
Eager to atone for his crimes, Sorey immediately stepped forward:
"My lord! I am willing to go and find a way to lure that wizard out of the manor!"
This is the only straw he can think of grasping at the moment.
However, the Shadow Raven (Hick) did not respond.
It hovered silently, its deep, dark eyes gazing at the familiar manor, as if lost in some distant memory.
Time passed in a stifling silence, and no one dared to utter a sound to disturb it.
After a long while, the faint trace of reminiscence in the raven's eyes faded, replaced by a cold and indifferent look.
It turned to the crowd, its voice completely flat:
"There is a canyon twenty miles east of the manor. All personnel, proceed there and await further instructions. Follow my orders for any subsequent actions."
"Yes, sir!" Although the crowd was puzzled, no one dared to question it.
The raven said no more, its shadowy wings fluttered slightly, and it instantly merged into the void and disappeared.
Only when the suffocating pressure completely dissipated did everyone dare to breathe heavily.
Brown immediately turned his attention to Thaurissan, his malice almost tangible:
"Tsk tsk, Sore, look at the mess you've made! You botched the mission, so many brothers died, and in the end, the adults had to clean up your mess! Tell me, aren't you the worst of the worst?"
"Ha, if I had messed up the mission like you, I would have slit my own throat and apologized long ago. How could I still have the face to live?" someone chimed in from the side.
Sori's fists were clenched tightly under his black robe, his nails digging deep into his palms, humiliation and self-reproach gnawing at his heart like venomous snakes.
But he did not refute it; he simply lowered his head and silently endured this belated and even more intense humiliation.
"Hmph! Trash!" Brown spat dismissively, waving his hand dismissively. "Let's go!"
With the apprentices who came to provide support, they rode eagle-headed bats toward the designated canyon.
"They've gone too far! This is outrageous! The adults clearly didn't..."
Looking at the incessant, endless chatter of the little white man, Sori, who was initially feeling somewhat uncomfortable, almost wanted to laugh.
"Why didn't you say anything when they were here?" Sorey interrupted calmly.
Sean choked, and the white substance fluctuated violently:
"Sorry! I'm speaking up for you! Can't you see what kind of mess I look in right now? I just..."
Sore couldn't be bothered to listen anymore. He grabbed the noisy white substance and roughly threw it onto the back of the battered eagle-headed bat. Then he flipped over and controlled the bat to chase after Brown and the others.
High in the sky, the wind howled. Sori took one last, deep look in the direction where Hick had disappeared, and a sudden, almost martyr-like fanaticism erupted in his eyes, which had been filled with humiliation and madness!
He roared silently at the void, using all the power of his soul:
My lord! Next time… I, Sori, swear on my soul… I will never let you down again! Never!!!
Hick flew outside the manor, thinking about his past life's memories, and suddenly felt like laughing.
Leo and his men tried their best to escape, but they ended up in this place. What is this?
After a moment of reflection, Hick flew towards the direction he remembered without hesitation. Soon, the place with the most abundant elements of the entire manor appeared before Hick.
"You... wouldn't you say you've walked right into a trap? After all, your predecessor had another name... Hick Evans!"
