Chapter 15 The Fierce Chicken Devourer
Chapter 15 The Fierce Chicken Devourer
As Lynn led the dragon through the savage camp, he unsurprisingly received the spotlight.
On his shoulder stood a monster the free people had never seen before. Although it was still small, its appearance already showed its ferocity, and its bright colors represented danger.
Lynn's purpose in weeping blood was simple: to use the existence of the dragon to create momentum for himself.
Even beyond the Great Wall, the power of the Targaryen dragons is widely known, and who doesn't love to hear tales of legendary dragon riders? Wildlings always like to follow the strong.
If things really go smoothly, he wouldn't mind doing something according to Kuna's plan.
Nemo, accompanied by ten Thane warriors, stood menacingly behind Lynn. It took them about five minutes to reach Mans' tent.
The King of the Frontier's tent was twice the size of the largest tent Lynn had ever seen. Although it was also made of animal hides, the material was pure white snow bear skin. A pair of huge antlers stood on the top of the tent, which must have been taken from the heads of the giant moose that once roamed the Seven Kingdoms in the ancient times.
Two guards stood at the door, leaning on their spears, their arms strapped with round leather shields. Lynn seemed to hear Nemo sneer at the shields.
This child is a bit obsessed.
"Wild animals are not allowed in."
The guard faithfully performed his duty, but was so frightened by the blood-curdling screams that he swallowed hard. Nemo shoved him aside roughly and then lifted the tent flap for Lynn.
"You stay outside!"
After Lynn went inside, he gave instructions to the rest of the Thane people, and then followed them into the tent.
The tent was excessively hot and filled with smoke, with burning charcoal in each of the four corners, emitting a dark red glow.
The ground was covered with thick animal hides as carpets, which did indeed have a royal air about it, much more luxurious than Lynn's tent.
Once his eyes adjusted to the thick red smoke, Lynn discovered there were six people inside.
A dark-skinned young man is sharing a small glass of mead with a beautiful blonde woman;
A pregnant woman stands by a brazier, grilling a skewer of chicken.
A short but very stout man sat on a stool by the brazier. He had been to the Thane camp with Mans the day before and was now enjoying a roasted chicken. Hot fat dripped down his chin and into his beard as he laughed merrily.
There was also a tall, thin man with a very dangerous look in his eyes. Usually, savages have dangerous eyes, but his were exceptionally so. He was dressed in black and was sharpening a high-quality steel sword in his hand. The sword was clearly stolen; apart from the Thane clan, savages did not know how to mine or smelt, nor did they have forges with sufficiently high temperatures.
The last one was Mans, still wearing his tattered red and black cloak, sitting cross-legged on a cushion, playing the harp and singing:
The Dornish wife was as beautiful as the sun, and her kisses were warmer than spring.
The swords of the Dornish are made of black iron, and their kisses are terrifying.
The wives of Dorne would sing while bathing, their voices as sweet as peaches;
The swords of Dorne, however, have their own songs, sharp and aloof like leeches.
He fell to the ground, darkness swirled, and the taste of blood lingered on his tongue.
His brothers knelt down to pray for him, and he laughed and then burst into song:
"Brother, brother, my end is nigh."
The Dornish took my life, but it doesn't matter.
"Mortals must die, but I have tasted the wife of a Dornish!"
As the last melody of the song faded away, Mans looked up at Lynn:
"Child of the Stars, welcome to the tent of the King of the Frontier. I have prepared a comfortable seat for you, and also for your dragon."
After he finished speaking, he took a deep look at the menacing, weeping blood.
"But before we begin, please allow me to introduce my companion:"
First, there's this man dressed in black, sharpening his claws. His name is "Raven Hunter" Afuin, a nickname derived from his past killings of large numbers of crows, and he's about to embark on a new hunt.
In case you don't know, we usually call the guards on the Wall "ravens" because they only wear black.
"Raven Hunter" Afuin glanced coldly at Lynn, deliberately showing disdain for the existence of dragons, but this only revealed his fear.
After Mans finished speaking, he turned to the short, stocky man:
"This ferocious little chicken devourer is my loyal Tormund, and that woman over there—"
Tormund was somewhat dissatisfied.
"Wait, you mentioned Afuin's title, now it's time to talk about mine."
Mance Rayder smiled:
"As you wish."
"Star Child" Lynn, before you stands Tormund, the Giantsbane, the Boastful One, the Trumpeter, and the Icebreaker. He is also Tormund the Thunder Fist, the Husband of the Snow Bear, the King of Mead in the Red Hall, the Father of Life, and the Spokesperson of the Gods."
Mans rattled off all of Tormund's nicknames in one breath.
"That's more like it."
Tormund said with satisfaction, then turned to Lynn:
"Nice to meet you, Lynn Morningstar. While I don't believe in any Starchildren or White Walker Slayers, I am quite interested in dragons."
Lynn responded with a smile:
"Mance introduced me to a dozen people, but there weren't that many standing in the tent. I only saw a short, chicken-eating creature."
Everyone laughed, but Tormund laughed the loudest.
"That nice woman by the brazier," Mance Red continued after laughing, "is called Dana, and she's carrying my child."
The pregnant woman nodded shyly to Lynn.
He turned to the remaining two.
"This beauty is her sister, Val, and the young man beside Val, Jar, is her new pet."
Var's hair was a honey-gold color, unlike Lyanna's dark gold. She was indeed exceptionally beautiful, but after seeing Lyanna, Lynn found it difficult to develop any interest in her.
Var's gaze darted back and forth between Lynn's face and the young dragon, his expression somewhat meaningful.
"I am not someone's pet!"
Jarl said fiercely and sinisterly, to which Tormund scoffed.
"Alright! The other leaders each have their own tasks, and I will introduce them to you later. Yesterday you already met the Dog-Headed Hama, the Skeleton King, and the Weeping One with the Giant Scythe. I believe you can match their names and physical characteristics to your own."
Lynn nodded and sat down in the chair Mans pointed out to him. There was indeed a small fur-lined den prepared for the dragon next to the chair, so Lynn put the Bloodstained Dragon inside.
A round wooden table separated the two, on which some food was placed.
Lynn saw a small bowl of acorn paste among the dishes. He had eaten it once on the way here; it was bitter and hard to swallow. Even by the standards of a free man, he would only eat it when he had no other choice.
Nemo dutifully stood behind Lynn, his Star Shield, which he always showed off wherever he went, slung over his shoulder, his broad, heavy bronze sword tucked into his waistband, his left hand holding Lynn's helmet, and his right hand carrying a brand-new Valyrian steel sword.
Lynn's spacesuit made it inconvenient to fasten the sword belt, so Nemo insisted on carrying it for him.
Although it only took half a day and one night, Kuna's skills are beyond doubt.
Its hilt is meticulously crafted from unicorn horn, perfectly suited to Lynn's hand shape, and has a warm, dark sheen. The dragon egg-shaped counterweight on the hilt has also been re-polished, making it look brand new.
The scabbard is made from a single piece of swordfish skin of a suitable length. The skin is well tanned, grayish-white and almost translucent, both lightweight and flexible, with beautiful fish scale patterns on the surface.
"Ha! Thane, is that your new master's Fire Demon Sword in your hand?"
Tormund noticed the slender, striking dark-skinned sisters and couldn't help but put down the chicken in his hand, saying:
"Tormond wants to see the legendary sword that beheaded the White Walkers!"
