Chapter 47 Training Methods
Chapter 47 Training Methods
"The Shafarevich conjecture?" Several professors exclaimed in surprise. "Li Ang is studying arithmetic geometry? Diophantine equations? That's impressive."
Kayla's expression changed slightly upon hearing this. She quietly pulled Leon aside and whispered, "Leon, weren't you asking me about height theory yesterday? Why are you switching to Diophantine equations now?"
Kayla was extremely satisfied with her new student, so much so that she pushed aside most of the FDA, pharmaceutical companies, and biology department matters that would normally require her a lot of effort, and devoted most of her energy to the mathematics department, or more precisely, to Li Ang.
But isn't that how mathematical research is done?
Too much to chew.
It's important to understand that mathematics has evolved significantly since then, and in many ways it is very different from what it was a hundred years ago.
Many sub-disciplines of mathematics are so distinct that it's almost like being completely isolated from one another.
This is why the University of Chicago's mathematics department excels in analysis, but is not particularly strong in other fields such as number theory and topology.
During the Cold War between the US and the Soviet Union, both sides were pushing hard to develop science and technology, resulting in an explosive growth in the total amount of mathematical knowledge and increasingly specialized disciplines.
It is not easy for scholars to reach the international forefront in a small field, let alone in multiple fields.
But Li Ang, while studying height theory, also had to study Diophantus equations and Shafarevich conjecture.
Li Ang nodded. "I've almost summarized the part I asked you about. If I can combine the concept of Abel cluster height into projective space, I think I can push the Shafarevich conjecture forward by a lot."
Leon did not say that his ultimate goal was to use the Shafarevich conjecture as a springboard to prove the Model conjecture and to uncover the Faltings theorem.
Even so, Kayla Nolan was stunned.
Does that mean my newly admitted student is about to produce another paper?
How long has it been? This research speed is a bit too exaggerated.
The other professors also understood what was going on; it turned out that Li Ang had other research achievements as well.
Incredible!
As expected of students whom Director McLean deliberately "challenged" with difficult questions, they must put in their best effort to create this year's exam papers for the second-year students.
We must make sure Li Ang is deeply impressed and doesn't dare to underestimate the University of Chicago's mathematics department.
As they chatted, the group finally arrived at the cafeteria-themed restaurant.
……
Li Ang and several professors enjoyed a pleasant meal together.
Walking on the campus paths, Li Ang noticed that students would occasionally point and whisper about him. After listening carefully for a few moments, he gathered words like "paper," "journal," and "freshman."
It's clear that news of his paper being published in a journal has already spread within a small circle at the University of Chicago.
However, Li Ang has been keeping a low profile at school these past few days, basically going back and forth between the classroom and the library. In addition, he doesn't often stay in the school's single dormitory, so apart from Fan and Jet, he doesn't know many people at the student level.
Even though everyone knew he had published a paper as soon as he enrolled, no one actually approached him to chat.
Li Ang said he couldn't be more comfortable with this.
He didn't want to be surrounded by people like a mascot wherever he went.
In short, Li Ang's life has not been affected until the paper on Faltings' theorem is published.
He is still studying to gain subject experience and going to the gym to earn physical attribute points.
Countdown: 59:25:18
Atlas Iron Pavilion.
Li Ang glanced at the countdown on the system panel and continued training.
Since the physique attribute was raised to 1.2, the stat allocation tasks generated by the system have become increasingly difficult.
For example, his latest task required him to complete 24 bench presses of 90 kg while maintaining continuous muscle trembling.
At first glance, this task was only a few times or even ten times more demanding than the first fitness task he received at the Atlas Ironman gym.
Controlling muscle tremors is extremely difficult.
This is something almost no normal person could do.
That's right.
After his physique reached 1.2, even without considering magic, Li Ang gradually transcended the realm of ordinary people.
Even so, completing the system tasks is still not an easy task.
When Li Ang bench-pressed, his stamina was quickly depleted. After only a short training session, he felt for the first time that his endurance was not enough, despite having a physique of 1.2.
I thought about it.
Li Ang quickly found a solution.
Use mental power to help control muscles.
This way, you can train your mental strength while completing system tasks.
Although the system provided skill points, Li Ang's self-training yielded "minimal results," but as the saying goes, even a mosquito's leg is still meat.
Li Ang was willing to pay any price to become stronger.
"From now on, this type of exercise can be made a daily routine."
"Those powerful wizards must be able to easily control every muscle or cell in their own bodies, right?"
Li Ang pondered to himself.
After completing 24 bench presses, Li Ang felt completely drained. He set up the barbell and staggered to his feet.
At the same time, a system task completion notification appeared, and 0.1 physique points were successfully credited to the account.
A warm feeling flowed through my body, and my depleted energy was instantly restored.

After publishing his first paper, Li Ang received numerous rewards, including 50 points of mathematics subject experience, 100 learning coins, 10% skill experience, and 0.1 attribute points.
Considering the "blue potion effect", he did not rush to allocate 0.1 attribute to intelligence.
Just as Li Ang was taking stock of his harvest, a burly Latino man nearby noticed his unsteady gait and quickly came over.
He had been following this mixed-race young man for the past few days and knew that he had just started working out. It would be bad if he accidentally got injured here.
Li Ang activated his [Mind Awareness] and subconsciously dodged the support of the burly Latino man.
A hint of surprise flashed in the eyes of the burly Latino man, and he asked, "Friend, are you alright? Did you overexert yourself during training and are you exhausted?"
"I'm fine, thank you for your concern," Li Ang replied with a smile.
The burly Latino man wanted to say something more, but out of the corner of his eye, he caught a glimpse of the weight of Li Ang's barbell plates.
90 kg.
The way he looked at Li Ang again carried a hint of disbelief.
Just a few days ago, wasn't this young man pushing a weight of over ten kilograms? How come he's increased that many times over now, to ninety kilograms?
Although 90 kilograms may not be a lot for many people around him, this rate of progress is just too fast, isn't it?
Perhaps Li Ang is the kind of person who is naturally suited for training and fitness?
With more training or learning some techniques, he seems to be a natural-born talent for arm wrestling and discus throwing!
The Latino giant hoped that Li Ang would join his project, saying, "Hey friend, I see you're incredibly fast in the bench press. How about joining our gym's arm wrestling and discus throwing events? There are substantial dollar rewards for winning those."
Faced with the invitation, Li Ang decisively shook his head and refused, "Sorry, I'm not interested in these things."
Li Ang had previously learned that the grand prize in arm wrestling competitions was only a few hundred dollars.
Although he could gain some fame and fortune by participating, it was too much of a waste of time and not worth it at all.
