Lord: Starting with Contract Half-Elf Twins

Chapter 17 Territory, Open!

Chapter 17 Territory, Open!

The beginner lord's hut is now complete!

The territory feature is now available!

[Territory being defined...]

[Territory designated! Territory information has been updated on the map!]

[The lord's unit level has now received a territory bonus!]

[Achievement: The First Step to Becoming a Lord!]

[Reward: 3 Crystals]

A series of hints made Allen beam with joy.

After such a long period of effort, the [Territory] function in the Lord's Handbook is finally fully open!

[Followers] and [Territory] are the two dimensions from which the strength of a [Lord] unit originates, and now they are finally fully covered.

As soon as the notification sound rang out, Allen felt the elemental magic power within his body begin to surge on its own almost immediately.

However, this is not a direct increase in strength, but a more external magical activity under specific conditions.

Allen quickly opened his personal character panel and checked the buffs that the [Territory] provided to him.

After this period of growth, development, and hunting training, Allen's Dragon Vein Sorcerer level has increased by 1 level again.

But that's not important. What's important are the parentheses after "character template" and "level".

The bonuses from territories are not directly present, but rather external enhancements based on the size and function of the territory. These bonuses only take effect when the territory is nearby.

As long as he doesn't stray too far from the territory, he will be temporarily promoted from the [Hero] template to the [Leader] template.

Your level will also be temporarily boosted.

Similar to how monsters reside in their lair, they can unleash even greater power than usual.

The same applies to Allen's power.

As a lord, everything within his territory is his "nest," even the elements floating in the air are his support.

This is also one of the hidden bonuses of [Territory].

His territory is currently barren, with no functional buildings other than the core Lord's Hut, so this bonus is not yet noticeable.

Allen saw the specific bonus modes during the trial.

For example, if there is a mine in the territory, the lord will have a [Miner] level bonus within the territory.

If there is an alchemy workshop in the territory, the lord will receive a level bonus to [Alchemy].

And so on.

Although it's a temporary buff and can't compare to the permanent buff from [Followers], Allen knows very well that such a buff is still extremely valuable.

It's important to know that while buildings within a territory can be customized, the ability to improve the strength of followers to provide feedback to the lord is not as quick or stable.

Once the building is completed, the [Lord] will receive a bonus.

The process of going from 0 to 1 is often the most difficult step.

With the temporary boost from the building, the [Lord] has essentially skipped the most difficult step in this area and started growing directly.

The level you gain through your own forging as a [Lord] is real and won't disappear when the bonus is gone!

Allen already had several top-priority architectural candidates in mind.

The first type of building should definitely be a food supply building, such as one for hunting, planting, or animal husbandry.

Ensuring a stable food supply can greatly liberate the productivity of the kobold tribe and Allen's two companions.

With ample time, you can quickly build your territory.

Secondly, there are artisan production buildings such as those for smelting, forging, and carpentry.

All kinds of daily necessities, production tools, weapons and so on, depend on these craftsmen for production. Tools are a great help in improving productivity.

Finally, there are training buildings such as practice rooms and drill grounds.

If we only stockpile grain and not guns, anyone can come to my granary.

Sufficient strength is always a prerequisite for survival.

Not only do Allen and his two companions need to continue to explore their own strength and improve their combat power, but the able-bodied men of the kobold tribe also need to undergo full-time training.

This type of building will also be useful for other subjects that Allen subsequently subjugated.

Since these three types of buildings are basic buildings, Allen can't use the bonuses they provide for the time being. At this stage, he should focus on leveling up his main profession, [Dragon Vein Warlock].

But Allen wasn't in a hurry. These were the foundation for the development and construction of the territory, and the sooner they were put into use, the better.

Then, Allen opened the newly popped-up map in the territory interface.

An aerial view of Sapphire Bay came to mind.

The northern cliff is currently highlighted and marked as the demarcated "territory".

Allen zoomed in on this part and saw that the [Territory] was centered on the [Junior Lord's Hut], encompassing this cliff, the beach near the coast, and part of the mountain forest behind it.

Although this territory is not small, it is only a small corner of Sapphire Bay.

Beyond the highlighted territory is a larger circle, surrounded by dotted lines, which roughly encompasses one-third of Sapphire Bay.

This means that the area covered by Allen's [Territory] bonus is at most one-third of the area on the northern side of Sapphire Bay.

Once the area exceeds the limit, it will no longer be effective.

Beyond the dotted lines, the map is shrouded in fog, showing only a rough outline without any details.

However, there is one narrow route as an exception.

The route starts from the cliffs on the north side of Sapphire Bay, extends northward along the coast, and then abruptly turns into the wilderness of mountains.

After winding through the desolate mountains, the road took many turns, eventually leading out of the mountains and pointing to an ancient architectural complex.

That was the escape route for Allen and his two companions.

It was the route they discovered through their own bodies during three months of fearful escape.

Allen stared at the ancient ruins for a long time.

Sooner or later, he will fight back and take that ancient site for himself.

This is not just about revenge or eliminating the threat of Obitus the Decayer.

Also, because there was extremely powerful ancient magic there, which Allen had seen when he was escaping.

This special place is not only favored by black-robed wizards, but Allen believes that the [Territory] interface will also surely yield some benefits.

If he could claim that place as his territory, he wondered what kind of powerful bonus it would provide.

Allen hadn't forgotten the magical artifact he'd seen in the deep pit beneath the kobolds.

Clearly, these are remnants of ancient sites, and there may be some connection between them.

Unlike ancient ruins, Allen, relying on his sense of magic, could almost certainly conclude that there was something bad beneath the magical artifact in the kobold cave.

Allen muttered to himself:

"Let's add this to our future plans, whether it's dealing with the hidden dangers of ancient magical artifacts within our territory or confronting Obitus the Decayer in the future."

"I need professional spellcasters, not so much so as to be warlocks like me and Solina who rely on bloodline to cast spells, but research-oriented talents—like wizards."

Thinking of this, the image of the wizard apprentice Grimm, who had escaped with him, suddenly appeared in Allen's mind.

He remembered Green saying that his mentor was a very powerful wizard.

This is the only way Allen knows of to connect with a powerful wizard.

Unfortunately, Green is far away, so we'll have to talk about it another time.

"Eagle Plateau, Emerald City...it's so far away."
