Chapter 10 is important!
When Su Ye pushed open the door to the consultation room, Zhang Yuanping was already sitting in the main seat.
However, Zhang Yuanping looked at him strangely today, scrutinizing him with a mixture of curiosity and curiosity.
Su Ye felt a little uncomfortable being stared at.
"What's wrong, Director? Is there something on my face?"
"There's an egg."
Zhang Yuanping chuckled and waved his hand, then looked down and continued flipping through the outpatient appointment slips, remaining outwardly calm.
But Su Ye noticed that he was clearly distracted while flipping through the appointment slips.
Zhang Yuanping was indeed thinking about something.
This morning at the department head meeting, the vice president casually mentioned that the examination center had reported that one of the medical practitioner's license exam papers had caught the attention of the grading team. The examinee was a resident trainee from their hospital named Su Ye.
The vice dean's exact words were: "Old Master Zhou Jingtang personally called and said that this student is worth nurturing, and asked us to pay more attention to him."
Zhou Jingtang.
That was a leading figure in Jiangcheng's medical circle. Zhang Yuanping had only seen a handful of students in his thirty years of practice who would personally call him.
He's just a resident trainee, yet the vice dean specifically mentioned him at the director's meeting.
Zhang Yuanping couldn't help but take a second look at Su Ye.
To be honest, this kid has been performing really well these past few days. He's quick-witted and insightful. In the last case of the kidney lesion, he spotted something that even two attending physicians from other hospitals couldn't see at a glance. His only shortcoming is that he still lacks clinical experience, but he's only a first-year resident trainee, so his future is promising.
"How did the exam go?" Zhang Yuanping asked casually.
"Not bad." Su Ye sat down next to him, his tone indifferent.
Zhang Yuanping nodded: "Okay, that's good. Try to stay in the institute in the future. Our institute is pretty good in Jiangcheng."
This was said casually, but the meaning was quite clear.
Zhang Yuanping's initiative to "stay in the institute" is a form of recognition for a resident trainee.
Su Ye understood in his heart, but replied aloud, "Indeed, Jiangcheng First People's Hospital is the only Grade III Class A general hospital in the city, with complete departments and six provincial key disciplines, ranking among the best in the entire province. Being able to stay in the hospital is definitely the best option."
"You seem to know quite a bit about this," Zhang Yuanping chuckled.
"Okay, do a good job."
……
Around noon, a mother and child came in.
The mother was in her forties, with a haggard face and obvious fine lines at the corners of her eyes, clearly the kind of person who had worried too much. The son was about thirteen or fourteen years old, a middle school student, tall and thin, sitting in a chair with his head drooping, looking like he "didn't want to come."
"Doctor, my son has been complaining of back pain lately, and his urination is also irregular. Sometimes he has to go to the toilet several times a night. Could you please take a look and see if there is anything wrong with his kidneys?"
Zhang Yuanping had the child sit in the examination chair, asked a few questions, and looked at the child's urinalysis and urinary tract ultrasound reports. There were no obvious abnormalities, although the white blood cell count in the urinalysis was slightly elevated, but not serious.
Zhang Yuanping and Su Ye exchanged a glance; they both understood what was going on.
It's nothing serious. It's most likely a mild urinary tract irritation caused by prolonged sitting, insufficient water intake, and holding in urine, which is very common among junior high school students.
Zhang Yuanping prescribed some medicine to treat the symptoms and gave some advice such as drinking more water, not holding in urine, and not sitting for long periods of time.
The mother took the prescription, but she clearly felt it wasn't enough.
She turned to look at her son, her voice filled with anxious disappointment: "Son, did you hear what the doctor said? Stop sitting around playing games! You're glued to your phone all day, playing games until midnight, not drinking water, and holding your urine. How can your kidneys not have problems?"
The son didn't speak, and kept his head down.
The mother continued, her voice growing louder: "You need to understand, online games these days are nothing more than traps set by the world's best psychologists. Their only goal is to exploit your competitive spirit, give you a false sense of accomplishment, make you addicted, make you unable to stop, and ultimately turn you into a useless person!"
As she said this, she glanced at Zhang Yuanping intentionally or unintentionally, clearly trying to use the authority of the "white coat" to add weight to her words.
Zhang Yuanping didn't respond; he had seen too many cases of this kind of family education and didn't want to get involved.
There was a two-second silence in the examination room.
Then the middle school student slowly took a cell phone out of his pocket.
The screen has a cracked corner, the bezel is worn white, and the screen protector is bubbling. It looks like an old model that has been used for several years.
He held up the tattered phone, looked up at his mother, and calmly said:
"Being a genius is too tiring, being a good-for-nothing is much easier, hehe."
The mother's face paled slightly.
Her lips moved as if she wanted to say something, but in the end she didn't say anything. She just took a deep breath, pulled her son's arm to stand up, thanked him, and turned to leave the clinic.
After the door closed, the consultation room was quiet for a while.
Su Ye and Zhang Yuanping exchanged a glance and smiled helplessly.
"Kids these days..." Zhang Yuanping shook his head, picked up his teacup, and took a sip.
Su Ye remained silent.
Being a genius is too tiring; being a useless person is much easier.
This sounded like a rebellious joke, but Su Ye felt that it was quite true.
……
The outpatient clinic closed at 12:30 pm.
Instead of going to the cafeteria, Su Ye took a boxed lunch and turned into an old building behind the inpatient department.
This building was the hospital's administrative office building in its early years. After the new administrative building was built a few years ago, it was abandoned. There have been talks of renovation, but no work has been done yet, and almost no one comes here.
Su Ye found an empty office on the third floor. He pushed open the door and went in. The room was covered in dust, with a few old tables and chairs piled in the corner. The window was half open, and the afternoon sun shone in obliquely.
He placed the boxed lunch on the table, ate it in a few bites, wiped his hands, and sat down on an old chair by the window.
Close your eyes.
The senses spread out, confirming that there was no one within 30 meters.
Safety.
Su Ye emptied his mind, focused his senses on a single point, and probed the spiritual threads in the air.
The third strand.
After a morning of rest, my mental energy has recovered by more than half, and the spiritual energy channels in my body have cooled down.
Lock, pull, enter the body.
The burning sensation exploded again from between my eyebrows, spreading along the familiar path throughout my body. The stinging was still intense, but it was better than the second sting in the morning, and my body seemed to be gradually adapting to the process.
Su Ye gritted his teeth and endured it without uttering a sound.
Thirty seconds later, the third wisp of spiritual energy completed its cycle and was completely absorbed by the body.
He opened his eyes and let out a long breath.
The sunlight outside the window fell on his face, warm and peaceful.
The old building was deserted, with only the faint sounds of voices and the hum of equipment coming from the inpatient department in the distance.
Su Ye leaned back in his chair, feeling the increasingly abundant power within his body.
The skin also became increasingly resilient.
It faintly emits a halo of light, like a translucent piece of precious jade.
