This was one of the five pieces of equipment he carried; the other four were a canteen, food (3x portable military rations), rope, and a fire starter.

Once he had the dagger out, Chen Wen began to cut the sheep hide.

Using his body heat, he softened the hide a bit, then cut off a long strip.

Then he used the dagger to carve a small hole slightly left of the center of the sheep hide.

When he fitted this small hole to his left eye, the blinding white sunlight eased into a gentler brightness.

It worked!

Chen Wen chuckled, decisively carved another small hole on the opposite side so his right eye could also see outside.

"Nice, this thing can certainly replace the shorts, ahem, replace sunglasses!"

Chen Wen wrapped the sheep hide around the outside of his hat, securing the small holes.

Though it partly obstructed his view, it minimized the stinging pain sunlight inflicted on his eyes.

While he didn’t find any meat, he did locate a large thigh bone in nearby snowdrifts.

Chen Wen exclaimed in a playful tone, picking up the thigh bone.

This thing was frozen solid, hard as a rock!

Very handy as a hammer.

Plus, the feel is perfect!

After swinging the thigh bone a few times, Chen Wen stored it away too.

In this survival outing, he only carried limited tools, just a dagger and a long spear.

Therefore, he definitely wouldn’t pass up the thigh bone, which could serve as a hammer.

Their relatives, of course, rank among the most powerful terrestrial predators.

As members of the brown bear family, blue bears are naturally not to be trifled with.

These massive creatures are about two meters in length with shoulder width reaching one meter; the largest of them weighs close to 400 kilograms; even young ones are far heavier than humans.

They’re robust and fierce, with enormous strength.

In many videos of tourism in Zang Province, some bloggers capture them at night.

The blue bears surviving near towns seem not to pose much danger, generally showing a mild demeanor.

This phenomenon is the result of their extended survival near townships.

If encountering a blue bear in the wild or uninhabited areas, it’s best to stay extremely alert, remaining in your vehicle if possible.

But Chen Wen had no vehicle, only a long spear.

Plus, this season wasn’t ideal.

Blue bears, like most brown bears, live solitary lives and have a hibernation habit.

They start hibernating from late October or early November, lasting until around April of the following year.
