Chapter 1159 - 1164: Tang Rou Reviews the Dishes

"It’s true, I’m not lying to you..." Lin Feng looked seriously at Tang Rou and said with utter sincerity, "Nothing ever happened between me and Su Zi..."Aside from this point, Lin Feng stopped answering Tang Rou’s other questions, because he knew his relationship with Su Zi couldn’t be completely hidden from Tang Rou. Besides, Tang Rou wasn’t stupid—some things just needed to sink in gradually, no need to spell everything out right now.

Tang Rou naturally trusted Lin Feng. Seeing him speak so firmly, she couldn’t help but show a faint, relieved smile.

"I believe you!" Tang Rou nodded lightly, smiled at Lin Feng, and said, "Honestly, I was just asking casually anyway. I don’t really care whether you’ve had anything with her or not..."

Now Lin Feng was stunned again. Women really were creatures whose thoughts you couldn’t grasp. Tang Rou was being this straightforward; he had no idea if she truly didn’t mind!

"Let’s get up. Just now Su Zi said she was going to cook for you, I don’t know if she’s done yet! Put your clothes on, let’s go out and have a look!" Tang Rou suddenly pushed Lin Feng away gently, hurriedly changed back into her own clothes as she spoke offhand.

"Su Zi cooked for me..." Lin Feng muttered to himself. He was really lacking confidence right now. That girl Su Zi had probably been furious after seeing Tang Rou this morning. When she was cooking, would she sneak some rat poison in there...

"Yes!" Tang Rou’s thoughts were far less dark than Lin Feng’s. A rather smug little smile appeared on her face. "I feel like Su Zi kind of wants to show off in front of me. I want to see just how good her cooking really is!"

So in Tang Rou’s eyes, Su Zi’s actions were a direct challenge to her.

But for Tang Rou, who had been cooking for herself since she was little, Su Zi clearly couldn’t pose much of a threat. She was heading out to "appreciate" Su Zi’s skills with the attitude of someone just there to watch the show.

"Uh... Little Rou, I’d suggest you don’t get your hopes up too high..." Lin Feng cut off Tang Rou’s fantasy in time and said with a wry smile, "As far as I know, Su Zi hasn’t even been learning to cook for half a month yet. Even if she follows the recipes to the letter, you still have to worry about the flavors being too strong. There’s no way she can compare to your cooking!"

Lin Feng knew Tang Rou cooked for herself often, and every time she went back to her hometown in Su City, her grandmother would personally teach her those famous Huaiyang dishes. Among all the women Lin Feng knew, Tang Rou’s cooking skills were probably only matched by Cao Ying!

"Then let’s go see just how terrible Su Zi’s food actually tastes..." Once Tang Rou got Lin Feng’s confirmation, a pleased expression flashed across her face as she chuckled.

Lin Feng’s expression froze. He felt like everything he’d just said had been for nothing.

"Alright then..." Lin Feng nodded and got out of bed, looking completely helpless.

After the two of them tidied up and washed, they finally left the room together twenty minutes later.

"Lin Feng, you finally deigned to get out of bed? I thought you were going to sleep yourself to death..."

Just as Lin Feng and Tang Rou stepped out of the room, Su Zi, who was sitting on the sofa, turned her head, glanced at Lin Feng, and let out a dissatisfied little snort.

Ning Aoxue was also sitting beside Su Zi at that moment, her expression a bit odd as she looked at Lin Feng and Tang Rou, her face seeming slightly unnatural.

"Heh... Thank you for your concern, Miss Su, I’m fine. I just went to bed really late last night!" Of course Lin Feng could sense Su Zi’s displeasure. But with Tang Rou standing right next to him, he had to rein in his tone a bit, so as not to spark an all-out war between the two women.

"Hmph..." Su Zi was obviously unhappy with Lin Feng calling her "Miss Su" so formally. She pouted in annoyance, glared fiercely at Lin Feng, then adopted a posture that clearly said she didn’t want to talk.

Tang Rou only smiled lightly. She could clearly feel the way Lin Feng was speaking with her in mind, and she was very satisfied with how he was handling things.

"Su Zi, I heard you cooked. We’re already hungry—can we have a chance to sample your cooking?"

At this moment, Tang Rou suddenly spoke gently to Su Zi. Her voice was soft, her manner open and poised, yet there was a kind of irresistible warmth in her tone.

This was Tang Rou beginning her offensive. Even though her words weren’t aggressive at all, they still gave Su Zi a sense of pressure, like there was nowhere to retreat.

Su Zi turned her head and fixed a deep stare on Tang Rou before lightly biting her lower lip, then said calmly, "The food’s all in the dining room. If you want to eat, go eat. Let me say this up front: my cooking is just so-so. If you don’t like it, then make something yourself!"

It was obvious Su Zi had also picked up on the deliberate edge in Tang Rou’s words and realized Tang Rou was looking to nitpick her cooking... But Su Zi was frank about it—knowing her skills couldn’t match Tang Rou’s, she simply went for the "broken jar, broken lid" approach right from the start.

"Heh..." Tang Rou didn’t say anything else; she merely smiled softly and then took Lin Feng by the hand, heading toward the dining room.

Lin Feng had no idea what Tang Rou was trying to do. But at a time like this, all he could do was stay with her and let her make as much mischief as she wanted.

Tang Rou lifted the covers from the dishes on the table one by one, softly reading out what Su Zi had made: "Sweet and sour pork, steamed perch, tomato and scrambled eggs..."

Su Zi tilted her head curiously; she really wanted to know what kind of evaluation Tang Rou would give her cooking.

In Su Zi’s mind, Tang Rou would probably fiercely belittle her skills, then start bragging about herself, and might even personally take over the kitchen, whipping up dishes several times tastier just to slap her in the face.

"Mm, Su Zi, the dishes you chose are pretty good! They’re all simple beginner recipes you can complete just by following the cookbook, not much demand on knife work or heat control, and they all look like they’d taste pretty decent!"

However, to Su Zi’s surprise, after seeing the dishes she’d made, Tang Rou didn’t belittle her cooking at all. Instead, she actually praised her.

What did that mean—did Tang Rou have some other scheme? Su Zi thought, her expression turning strange.

Lin Feng also looked at Tang Rou curiously. He couldn’t figure out what Tang Rou was aiming for by making a point of inspecting Su Zi’s cooking.

Under the curious gazes of Lin Feng and Su Zi, Tang Rou picked up a pair of chopsticks, gently lifted a piece of sweet and sour pork, and placed it between her cherry-red lips, taking a small bite.

"Mm, the meat’s braised until it’s very tender and soft, and the sweetness isn’t too heavy—just right. The flavor’s quite good. The key point, though, is that the sourness is just a little bit too strong. Lin Feng probably won’t like it... next time, you should add a bit less vinegar!"

Tang Rou spoke with a smile, her gaze drifting toward Su Zi, sounding extremely sincere.

Add less vinegar? Su Zi was stunned for a second, then finally started to catch on. Tang Rou was hinting that she shouldn’t show too much "vinegar" in front of Lin Feng—that is, not be too jealous—or he wouldn’t like it!
