Warhammer: Starting as a Planetary Governor

Chapter 819 - 819: 818

Chapter 819 - 819: 818

"Damn it!"The instant Eden's divine body as the King of Hell was tackled by Khorne, the Blood God, his heart tightened.

After he ambushed Grandfather Nurgle, shattered their circuit of authority, and destroyed the deep spiral, he had chosen to run at once.

But he had not expected that even though he had fled first, the god of blood and war would still catch up to him.

Sure enough, the King of Hell's power was still a little short compared to those supreme gods.

At least, that was true in a direct fight.

In front of them, even running away was extremely difficult.

Good news: because his sneak attack had destroyed the deep spiral, the Dawnlight City Webway was temporarily safe.

Bad news: he, the Savior, might have to pay for it personally. He had sacrificed far too much for the Imperium!

This was perhaps Eden's riskiest move yet. He had traveled all this way alone just to stab the Chaos Gods in the ass.

It was also his worst crash so far. He had been caught on the spot, and he did not know whether he could still escape.

"Damn it, I absolutely can't let the gods pin me down here. They might refine me into a full-course meal.

"If that happens, I'm finished!"

Eden did not dare keep struggling with Khorne. He did not even dare counterattack. He fought desperately to break free from the Blood God's pounce and continued fleeing outward.

If the King of Hell's authority was completely dismantled and he lost the ability to resist, what awaited him would be endless torment.

It would probably be a hundred times worse than what had happened to the Goddess of Life Isha.

Eden sprinted through the chaotic energy field of the Warp. Endless lava flowed along the rifts into the distance.

Although his strength was far below the Blood God's, he had at least touched the steps of apotheosis. He was not so weak that he would be rooted in place and unable to move.

Eden drew in a deep breath and missed the Sacred Sun more and more.

Without the Emperor's protection, the Warp was still far too dangerous for him.

"Looks like I'd better stop going out after this. If I can turtle up, I'll turtle up," Eden thought.

Once again, he felt how difficult it was to survive in the Warp. This place was not easy to make a living in.

If some lesser god had heard the Savior and King of Hell sighing like this, it would have died of rage.

It would have cursed him on the spot.

What did he mean, the Warp was dangerous and impossible to survive in?

What proper god would stab the backsides of four supreme gods right in front of them?!

Forget the King of Hell. Even Khorne, without allies, would not dare run over and stab the other gods from behind like this.

That would trigger a divine war with no end except death.

Back when the Emperor set fire to Nurgle's Garden, Khorne had also found other dark gods as allies before he dared to stab Grandfather Nurgle in the rear.

For divine beings, the Warp was peaceful and stable most of the time. The years were calm and pleasant.

Even the Chaos Gods usually sent armies to fight one another. The number of times they personally entered the battlefield could be counted on one hand.

They rarely risked their true bodies. Any bump or bruise would be a massive loss and difficult to recover from.

In truth, if the King of Hell had gone to ambush a single supreme god, there would have been no problem at all.

As long as he was careful, and was willing to suffer some injuries, he would have had a real chance to escape.

But provoking all four Chaos Gods at once like this was something even the Emperor would have to weigh carefully, especially considering the retaliation that would follow.

Otherwise, he would not have spent so long preparing before striking Nurgle's Garden.

Of course, Eden had not wanted to make things this big either, but for the sake of the Dawnlight City Webway, he had no choice.

Right now, his only thought was to run as fast as possible and shake off the Chaos Gods' pursuit.

However, Eden had not controlled the King of Hell for long before he sensed a lethal presence.

Behind him, in the void, a burning brass great axe split the firmament.

The brass great axe was like judgment at the end of days. Along its path, drifting space hulks were only brushed by the shockwave it formed, yet they melted into twisted iron.

He had no doubt that if this attack appeared in realspace, it could split a planet apart with a single stroke.

"Holy crap, are you really going that hard?"

When Eden realized how terrifying the brass great axe was, his crimson body tensed.

He did not even dare turn back to block it. He only kept running forward, preparing to take the blow head-on.

There was no other choice. If he did not turn back, at most Khorne would chop him a couple of times. If he turned back and got intercepted, he would suffer a brutal group beating.

"Coward! Despicable wretch! Leave your skull behind!"

Khorne's wrath had already reached its limit.

He swung the brass great axe, trying to hack the King of Hell into pieces.

He had been holding in this anger for far too long. The war against Terra had cost him too much. The Brass Citadel had nearly run out of supplies.

After that, the gods had personally come here, using the power of their core authorities to dig through the veil of the Dawnlight City Webway.

They had intended to recover their losses in one stroke. Not only could they completely seal off the Emperor, they could also plunge the Imperium back into darkness.

According to the Changer of Ways, everything had been within the plan. In at most ninety-nine seconds, they would have completely pierced the Webway veil.

Yet he had never expected that the Savior, the King of Hell, would be so sinister. At the very last moment, Eden had launched a sneak attack and ruined everything.

That had cost them their final stake. Their chance to break even was gone. The eruption of the deep spiral had also left no small number of wounds on them.

Who could tolerate that?

No matter what, the King of Hell had to die. No one could stop it.

Khorne swung his axe. The brass great axe carried trillions of dead souls and sulfurous flame, then slammed down viciously on the King of Hell.

The attack formed from the authority of slaughter instantly burned away a considerable amount of the King of Hell's authority.

Then the physical strike within the Warp shattered the vicious black spines on the back of the crimson body and sank deep into Eden's flesh.

Awooo!

Eden instantly felt heart-piercing pain, but he did not turn back. Instead, he desperately sealed the wound on his body.

He stopped his authority from leaking out.

Then he used the momentum from the blow as assistance and fled even farther away.

???

Khorne stared blankly at the crimson body vanishing into the distance.

The King of Hell had not only taken his fierce strike, he had run off with the brass great axe still stuck in him!

That despicable wretch's endurance was stronger than expected.

This made Khorne even more furious, along with a hint of heartache.

He chased after Eden at an even greater speed, and the other Chaos Gods followed closely behind.

Eden carried the brass great axe on his back, enduring the continuous damage from the authority of slaughter, while his stamina was rapidly consumed.

His running speed gradually slowed.

The moment Eden's speed decreased, that terrifying brass body, wreathed in sulfur, caught up to him.

Khorne charged with endless slaughter and skulls of blood, directly flipping Eden over and smashing him into a barren Chaos planet.

It was a world that had fallen into the Warp and died completely, four or five times larger than Terra.

Unfortunately, all land and matter on the planet had been twisted into strange shapes.

There was no life left at all.

Only a few scattered, senseless Chaos daemons lingered there, along with a python-shaped lesser god coiled around a mountain range like a salted fish sunbathing.

This was its lair.

Suddenly, the python lesser god seemed to notice something and raised its head sharply. A fiery-red, hateful body was plummeting toward this Chaos planet.

It was like a massive meteor falling at the end of days, and several even more terrifying figures were following behind it.

Hiss.

The python lesser god trembled from head to tail and let out a hiss. But it was not a warning. It sounded more like a terrified scream in the face of danger.

Without the slightest hesitation, it immediately flapped its little wings and took off from the mountains, fleeing out beyond the Chaos planet.

This lesser god had already realized that its little nest was about to become the battlefield of terrifying beings.

If it did not leave, it might be caught in the shockwaves of a divine war and meet a miserable end.

Within the Warp, no god dared directly face the divine might of the Chaos Gods. The safest method was not to offend them.

Stay far away from them.

As for the unlucky bastard, the defier being pursued by the Chaos Gods, perhaps he would become a delicious dessert for the gods.

While flying away from the Chaos planet, the python lesser god did not forget to offer its respect to the gods.

It did not want to offend these supreme beings of the Warp.

The lesser god hid in the nearby void and nervously watched the situation in its Chaos lair.

The scene that followed made its heart ache beyond words.

Eden ignored the little python that had flown away in terror. He only felt as if all the skin on his body was being rubbed and burned.

This Chaos world still retained part of its physical laws. Since he was falling through the atmosphere, naturally there would be friction.

It was his first time experiencing free fall of such intensity. His only feeling was that this planet was a little small.

But in the next second, Eden realized that the planet was not small. Rather, the King of Hell's physical divine body was far too enormous.

He was a Chaos being with several Primarch champions. In the Warp, he was a true colossus.

His presence was overwhelmingly oppressive.

Boom!

Eden's crimson divine body smashed into the planet's surface like a giant meteor.

In an instant, an entire continent collapsed, blasting ash and shattered rock through the atmosphere.

Then magma from the planet's core surged out, and Eden himself sank into a core-ocean of molten lava.

That violent impact caused one-fifth of the planet to completely fracture. A broken gap appeared in the once-round sphere.

Glug, glug.

Eden swallowed several mouthfuls of magma, then struggled to climb upward.

His huge, sharp daemon claws reached out from the magma and stabbed into the edge of the continent, causing several mountain ranges to collapse.

Afterward, his head and upper body slowly emerged as well, scorching lava dripping down his divine body.

At this moment, he looked like an apocalyptic daemon god crawling out from the core of the world.

Of course, from Eden's personal perspective, he felt like the Little Prince arriving on some tiny planet. Just standing up allowed him to touch the atmosphere.

This was the terrifying nature of high-ranking dark gods. Within the Warp, they were absolute natural disasters.

They could trample any physical region of the Warp and overturn fleets with a casual wave of their hands.

Even the strongest warships and fortresses in galactic realspace were nothing more than slightly larger flies in their eyes.

"So... this is a supreme dark god?"

Eden truly felt the destructive power of high-ranking dark gods, and this was only in the physical sense.

If they used the Warp itself, they could cause even more terrifying destruction.

Perhaps only more advanced planet-scale Blackstone devices could suppress or attack these Chaos Gods and inflict real damage upon them.

"Coward, face me!"

With a thunderous boom, Khorne's brass body also crashed into the magma, raising another wave of lava that blotted out the sky.

The activity of these two dark gods on the Chaos planet caused the world to fracture even further, with magma spilling into the void.

Before Eden could react, the howling of war rang beside his ears.

It was as though he was facing thousands upon tens of thousands of massive wars at the same time. Countless planets fell, and trillions of living beings howled in agony.

That fierce impact made Eden freeze for a moment. Immediately after, he saw a supermassive fist the size of a casserole pot, wrapped in brass.

Bang!

Eden took Khorne's punch head-on. His soul-consciousness spun with dizziness, then he violently toppled backward.

He fell and smashed apart the other half of the continent, almost sinking completely into the magma.

"Damn it!

"Does the Blood God always fight this brutally? Why does he have the same style as me?"

Eden was left dazed by that brass cannon-punch, his entire being a little numb.

But thinking about it, that made sense. Back then, Khorne had been stabbed by his own greatest daemon with an axe. True high-dimensional warfare was actually this plain and direct.

Eden flailed and tried to stand, but only tore apart the edge of the continent again. He tried several times and failed to get back up.

Roar!

Khorne charged over and violently hauled him up, intending to launch another round of brutal brass cannon-punches.

But before he could throw a punch, his vision went black, and intense pain followed.

Eden had splashed magma into the Blood God's face. Within it were sacred flame, plague poison, and other forces, causing him to temporarily lose his senses.

This pure, crude move gave Eden a chance to counterattack. He suddenly clenched his fist, and powerful hellfire exploded across it.

Hell Big Fist!

Eden slammed a cannon-punch straight into the Blood God's face, knocking his helmet flying and clearly inflicting a considerable wound.

However, this strike did not knock Khorne down. It only forced him back a few steps.

"Hiss. How am I supposed to fight this?"

Eden drew in a sharp breath, fully realizing the Blood God's strength.

He could not even beat Khorne. When the other Chaos Gods caught up, things would become truly miserable.

Even worse, if he could not knock down or repel the Blood God, escaping in his current state would be difficult.

Khorne's war-will had already locked firmly onto him. Forget running. Even turning around would invite a fierce strike from the Blood God's authority.

"Savior, your courage is commendable, but an attack of that level cannot defeat me!"

Khorne seemed excited after being struck by that punch.

His battle intent burned even higher.

The Blood God respected those who could fight him. Then he defeated them with even more terrifying force.

Boom!

The brass volcanoes around the sea of magma erupted, and Khorne once again lifted his brass great axe.

He radiated thick killing intent.

"Wait!"

Suddenly, Eden thought of something and raised his hand sharply, as if trying to stop the Blood God's charge.

And the Blood God actually stopped. A trace of confusion appeared on his face.

"What is it?"

"Let's make peace.

"If we keep fighting, both sides will suffer. That would be a huge loss for both of us.

"A pure net negative!"

Eden's attitude was extremely sincere.

He had already noticed that Khorne, this poor bastard, was fighting very conservatively. Clearly, his reserves of dark power were painfully thin.

That was also why the Chaos Gods usually appeared only as phantoms and did not easily initiate divine wars.

Maintaining their physical divine bodies consumed an enormous amount of energy. Fighting was even more absurd. Every second burned through dark power and faith.

It was just like modern war. One round of attacks meant a massive expenditure, and without reserves, it was very difficult to keep attacking for long.

Right now, however, the Chaos Gods were at their poorest. They were fighting with their hands tied.

If they had been at their peak, he, the Savior and King of Hell, might have already been knocked down.

Just now, Eden had fired a massive pure goodwill rocket of dark power at the Blood God, causing Khorne to stop for the time being.

"How about this? We cooperate for mutual gain and make a fortune. I'll even compensate you for your previous losses!"

Eden slapped his chest, looking utterly generous.

He occupied high-quality territory in the galaxy and possessed a massive number of high-quality human believers.

He also had many Chaos worshippers.

All of these were wealth that made the Chaos Gods drool.

Especially now, when they were generally weak. Calling him the richest being in the Warp was no exaggeration.

This was true strength!

After speaking, Eden looked at Khorne, the Blood God, and casually sent another wave of goodwill dark power rockets.

This directly suppressed Khorne's anger.

Even though the two sides were currently dueling, the Blood God still did not have the backbone to reject the boss's dark power rockets.

This thing was even more effective than a direct attack. Sure enough, after growing used to being rich, Eden only knew how to solve problems in the simplest and crudest way: throwing money at them.

And he discovered that the poor bastard seemed a little tempted.
