Warhammer: Starting as a Planetary Governor

Chapter 227 228: Kaul – Please Take Your Seat, Savior

Chapter 227 228: Kaul – Please Take Your Seat, Savior

"You mean we have to wait for inspiration to strike before we can get any re

Trying to comprehend it now was like an elementary school student attempting quantum physics.

Yeah—not happening.

"Yep… I'm not cut out for research."

After struggling for a while, he gave up.

This knowledge was better left to the Mechanicus.

Eden bid farewell to the Emperor and logged out, returning to the material world.

...

Aboard the Dreamweaver

Eden awoke, but his head was still spinning.

Just thinking about those intricate diagrams made him drowsy.

At least now, he'd never have trouble falling asleep again.

Now that his position was secure, Eden no longer needed overly extravagant attire.

Besides, such garments were often uncomfortable to wear.

Unless it was an important occasion, he preferred simpler clothing.

Of course, these clothes only looked simple.

In reality, they were crafted from extraordinarily rare materials, undergoing hundreds of intricate processes.

Even planetary governors would find them prohibitively expensive.

It was luxury in disguise.

Yet Eden was entirely unaware of this.

He had merely mentioned to the head maid that he preferred comfortable and simple clothing.

From that moment, countless individuals worked to make it happen.

Take this outfit, for example—

Beyond its exorbitant materials, its production involved tens of thousands of people across three planets.

Several renowned artists and master tailors were responsible for its final touches.

And before serving the Savior, all of them had to pass multiple tests and even more stringent loyalty screenings.

Of course, the rewards for their service were beyond imagination.

They were granted prestigious positions in the citizen hierarchy, with accelerated promotions.

This experience alone would open doors to future career opportunities.

It was the opportunity of a lifetime.

Yet this was only the tip of the iceberg in Eden's daily life.

As the Lord of an entire sector, his attention was an invaluable and rare commodity.

Even the rulers of hive cities overseeing tens or hundreds of billions of people might never receive even a second of his time in their entire lives.

To them, simply catching a distant glimpse of the Savior at a grand banquet, receiving a single glance from him, was an honor beyond measure.

Now, the only matters that could command Eden's attention were major events within the sector.

Like the Webway project.

Kaul and Moss, the two Grand Sages, had already obtained the preliminary technological data.

Leading a team of sages and a host of tech-priests, they were researching the Blackstone Gate.

Eden boarded an assault ship and headed toward the site.

...

The Blackstone Gate

Surrounding the Blackstone Gate, multiple floating mechanical platforms had been constructed.

Thousands of engineering ships moved back and forth, transporting materials and carrying out construction tasks.

The assault ship landed on one of the platforms, and Eden stepped out.

Waiting at the docking area were Kaul, Moss, and Deville, ready to welcome the Savior.

Kaul and Moss oversaw the research and construction efforts, while Inquisitor Deville and his team ensured constant supervision, preventing any unexpected incidents.

Beyond the immediate perimeter, Duke's Void Angels stood ready, prepared to respond to any threats.

The Imperial Navy and other military forces maintained close watch over the site, ready to intervene at a moment's notice.

Accompanied by the Grand Sages and the Inquisitor, Eden inspected the progress of the Blackstone Gate.

Up close, he observed the intricate structure of the gate, its surface covered in dense, arcane symbols.

Some of these symbols seemed oddly familiar.

They resembled certain energy circuitry designs he had seen before.

Beneath the Blackstone exterior, there were even more complex mechanical components made from an unknown dark material.

Rather than delve too deeply, Eden turned to Kaul and asked, "How is the research progressing? Any difficulties?"

Kaul scoffed at the idea of difficulties.

"Of course not! There is no challenge that can stump the great Kaul!"

When it came to technology, he never backed down—if anything, he seemed to take Eden's question as an insult to his abilities.

Still, he seized the opportunity to make a request.

"If I had to name a difficulty, I'd say I need more resources."

Eden barely paid this any mind.

This project had the highest priority, after all.

"Whatever you need, just request it from the logistics department."

As far as he was concerned, this project had virtually unlimited access to resources—as long as his dominion could sustain it.

After touring the site, Eden soon lost interest.

Most of the technology was beyond his understanding.

Nor could he make sense of the rapid-fire binary chatter of Kaul and the other tech-priests.

Of course, if he really wanted to understand, he could have Xiaoling translate it for him.

But he didn't care enough to bother.

Binary language was highly information-dense—each encoded character could represent an entire paragraph of data.

What took tech-priests mere seconds to say would translate to thousands of words in Low Gothic.

After confirming the general progress, Eden left.

As the supreme ruler of his domain, he didn't need to concern himself with execution details.

His role was to make decisions, delegate tasks to the right people, and provide support.

Then, he simply had to wait for results.

More importantly, he had just received an urgent message—he had to leave on a diplomatic trip.

...

Six Months Later – Krenmi

The Dreamweaver slowly emerged from the Warp, hovering above the planet's atmosphere.

A landing craft detached from its hull and descended toward the surface.

Inside the vessel, Eden reviewed the planetary data on a dataslate.

This was the final stop on his diplomatic tour.

Krenmi was not highly developed; by taxation standards, it was classified as a civilized world.

Perhaps in a few millennia, it could evolve into a hive world.

As Eden gazed down at the surface, he saw a sprawling, industrialized metropolis of towering skyscrapers.

Since there were no hive cities, the air quality remained relatively clean, and the ground was largely unpolluted.

Without a hive structure, the quality of life for its inhabitants was comparatively better.

But whether that was a blessing or a curse was debatable.

Without the fortifications of a hive city, the planet was far more vulnerable to disaster.

Should Chaos or xenos launch an attack, its chances of survival were slim.

Krenmi had been fortunate—despite existing in the Imperium's shadow, it had survived with only minor Warp corruption.

And that was largely thanks to Eden.

Had he not dispatched a fleet in time, the planet would have succumbed to Chaos taint and been lost.

Fortunately, the arrival of his forces—accompanied by the Angels of War—had eradicated the source of the corruption.

Yet even with timely intervention, the taint had claimed millions of lives.

Following the purification, the planet was officially reclaimed.

The process was straightforward:

Eden, as the Lord of the Sector and the Savior, declared the world under his jurisdiction.

Then, he demonstrated overwhelming military superiority.

If the planetary leadership refused to submit, they would be labeled as traitors to the Imperium.

At that point, the Angels of War would enact battle protocols.

The upper echelons would be purged.

Those who needed to be executed were executed. Those who needed to be captured were captured. Those deemed useful were sent to labor camps.

The Savior's mercy extended only to the common citizens and the noble and administrative class who pledged loyalty.

The rest were enemies.

The Codex of Redemption dictated their fate.

In most cases, however, labor camps were the preferred punishment.

To Eden, life was currency—it had value.

After securing the planet, Eden visited the newly constructed Golden Sun and Savior's Monument, where a psychic core was installed.

This was his primary objective—once completed, the rest would be handled by the Imperial Court's bureaucratic agencies.

He also took the opportunity to tour Krenmi's famed natural wonders—the polar glaciers, waterfalls that stretched thousands of meters, and more.

After spending too much time inside a mechanical vat, he needed some fresh air.

That evening, a grand banquet was held aboard a kilometer-long airship.

Eden made a brief appearance, bestowing blessings upon a few select individuals.

The noblewomen attending were dressed in their finest attire, each vying for his attention with subtle glances and gestures.

To them, the Savior was the most attractive man they had ever seen—his power and charisma were unparalleled.

They swore he was the most captivating figure of their lives.

Like moths to a flame, they were drawn to him.

Though, one had to wonder—were they acting of their own accord, or following the directives of their families?

The nobles and officials at the banquet knew this was their one and only chance to make an impression.

If one of their daughters could catch the Savior's eye—even for a single night—it would be worth centuries of effort.

However, they failed.

Eden barely had time to enjoy the sight of well-endowed figures before abruptly leaving.

He had just received an urgent transmission from Urth.

The Blackstone Gate was complete.

It was time to return and oversee its activation.

"It's done!"

Excitement surged through him as he departed at once.

...

Urth – The Blackstone Gate Activation

The Blackstone Gate had changed dramatically.

Larger mechanical rings now encircled the structure, complex machinery intertwining within its core.

Before the Dreamweaver had even fully docked, an assault craft shot out, racing toward the Blackstone Gate at full speed.

It mirrored Eden's current state of mind—eager, impatient.

As soon as the assault craft landed, he rushed out and immediately turned to Kaul.

"How does this thing start?"

Kaul, seemingly even more excited than Eden, waved his mechanical arms enthusiastically.

"Savior, you've finally arrived!"

"Based on the data you provided, I have successfully forged the key to open the Webway. But the key requires an immense amount of psychic energy to activate—only you can do it!"

Kaul gestured toward a nearby mechanical structure.

"It's simple. Just sit there and unleash your full psychic power…"
