Chapter 378 We Have A Deal

Chapter 378 We Have A Deal

"I'm here because I need your help..." Jake began, explaining his vision of turning the vampire planet into a thriving tourism hub. He laid out his requests, knowing full well that Edgar, despite his obsession with making Earth the top tourism destination, would find some way to take up the offer.

"Hmmm, let me get this straight," Edgar said, leaning back with a calculating look. "You want me to create an artificial sun for the vampire planet, provide cutting-edge tech, and find a more humane way to source blood for the vampires, correct?"

Jake nodded.

"For the blood supply, we can stop using human clones and instead utilize a shapeless organism with human-like cells to produce blood. Think of it like a dairy farm—but for blood. Less gory and more efficient." Edgar paused, his gaze narrowing. "However, there's one issue with your requests. You want a strong female clone body. That's... complicated. If you want me to deliver, Mr. Jake, you'll have to take care of something for me first."

Edgar slid a small envelope across the table.

Jake's eyes narrowed. He had anticipated something like this. "What's the target?"

Edgar grinned, his teeth flashing. "The Asura King."

Jake froze, his expression shifting to disbelief. "Wait... the Asura King? I thought they were extinct!"

"That's the narrative the world wants you to believe," Edgar said casually. "The Asuras are still around, though their numbers are critically low. They're desperately trying to rebuild their race."

"Then why would you want their king dead?"

"Because he's jeopardizing their survival," Edgar explained. "He's repeating the same reckless behavior that nearly wiped them out before—picking fights with the gods. The other Asuras approached me directly for this. They want him gone."

Jake slumped into his chair, his mind racing.

"Edgar, this is insane. Do you understand what you're asking?" Ophelia interjected, her voice tight as she looked at Edgar with a mix of disbelief and concern.

"Unfortunately, this is the only deal I'm offering. Let's not forget that I'm giving him plenty in return. For just the head of the Asura King, I'll handle every one of his requests. It's a fair trade, don't you think?" Edgar said with a nonchalant shrug as he stood.

"I'll give you one hour to decide. When you're ready, sign the contract on the table," he added, turning to leave.

"Aaghh~ This feeling..." Jake muttered as he moved his waist. "This is the kind of motivation I need to win."

Later...

"So, you signed the contract," Edgar said, glancing at the envelope Jake handed him. He pulled out the paperwork, skimming through it before scribbling his own signature.

"Looks like we have a deal," Edgar said, extending his hand for a handshake. Jake obliged.

"I'll prepare the warper to take you to the island where the Asura King resides. Follow me," Edgar instructed, turning to walk. Jake followed closely behind while Edgar added, "Ophelia, you'll stay back. Feel free to use any of the guest rooms, as long as you don't disturb me."

Ophelia shot Jake one last worried glance as he walked away but said nothing.

The two entered a vast chamber filled with pipes and gleaming metalwork. At the center stood an enormous machine, unlike anything Jake had ever seen.

"Is that a new teleporter model?" Jake asked, eyeing the contraption.

"No," Edgar replied, inputting codes into the console. "It's a warper. My new invention. Faster and more precise than a teleporter."

The machine roared to life, shimmering rings of light swirling around its core.

"Take this," Edgar said, tossing a small device to Jake, who caught it effortlessly. "You'll need it to return—if you survive."

"You talk as if I'm not coming back. Are you underestimating me?"

"Not at all," Edgar replied with a toothy grin. "If I underestimated you, I wouldn't have given you this mission. But don't underestimate your opponent, either. The Asura King is no joke."

"Fair advice," Jake admitted, stepping into the warper's shimmering rings. "I'll make sure to remember that."

As the machine's light engulfed him, Jake disappeared, leaving only the hum of the warper behind.
