Chapter 92 The Problem
Chapter 92 The Problem
Wei Hongsi was walking back to his dormitory. Because he had just eaten dinner and it was not advisable to do strenuous exercise, his pace was rather slow.
Most people on the sidewalk were walking in a hurry, and in this contrast between fast and slow pace, he seemed rather leisurely.
As Wei Hongsi approached the alleyway where the egg pancake stall was located, he slowly stopped and looked towards the alleyway entrance.
That middle-aged man must have been standing in this spot before he ran into the traffic lane. It was during the morning rush hour, and there were many people hurrying along the road. What did he see that made him look frightened and ignore the traffic to run into the road?
These past two days, whenever Wei Hongsi passes by here after get off work, he can't help but think about it.
He met Zhang Shengyong once last week while working on dream decoding for the task force, and they discussed this issue.
Zhang Shengyong had already investigated and found nothing unusual about the people who were in Han Tao's line of sight at the time.
Moreover, the people on that line were all moving around. After Han Tao stopped and his steps became abnormal, there was no sign that his gaze had moved, indicating that the object of his attention was most likely not a specific person.
Wei Hongsi thought Zhang Shengyong's analysis made a lot of sense, which made him even more confused.
Even if Han Tao has mental problems, he wouldn't commit suicide for no reason, right?
He was able to wander around this city alone for so many days, so he must have a basic understanding of safety. At least Wei Hongsi had seen him waiting for the red light to cross the zebra crossing.
The three men who detained Han Tao did indeed have some issues. Under Zhang Shengyong's interrogation, they finally succumbed to the pressure and confessed.
It turned out that the three men were playing cards together, with some stakes involved, but the amount wasn't large and was still within the scope of administrative penalties. The reason they detained Han Tao was because he had interrupted their gambling game, and after being shoved by them, he shouted that he would call the police.
The three men, both angry and frightened, tied up Han Tao and beat him. Little did they know that this would escalate the situation significantly.
As Wei Hongsi was lost in thought, he suddenly heard a horn blaring behind him, followed by someone shouting, "Make way! Make way!"
Startled, he quickly stepped aside, just as an electric scooter drove past. He couldn't help but yell at the man, "This is a sidewalk!"
The electric scooter ignored him completely and quickly drove away.
Wei Hongsi composed himself and continued walking. After a few steps, it suddenly occurred to him that the elderly man might not have seen anything; perhaps he had heard some unusual sound?
The incident involving Li Yunxiang and Peng Jun happened not long ago, and their unusual situations were both triggered by specific audio recordings.
It's certainly possible that the mentally unstable man was stimulated by the sound. Even more concerning, could it be that some kind of instruction has been implanted in his brain?
It's a pity that the road was quite noisy at the time, so if that special sound had occurred, it would have been difficult to capture.
Thinking of this, Wei Hongsi shook his head helplessly. Although he was there at the time, he was powerless to distinguish the audio.
Back in his dorm, Wei Hongsi took a shower. The temperature had risen significantly recently, and he'd worked up a good sweat walking back; the shower made him feel refreshed.
He sat down at the table, took out his phone and called his older brother, wanting to remind them that the "round-faced student" might be a woman, but the call couldn't be connected.
He then called Zhang Shengyong to remind him that the mentally ill man might have been stimulated by some kind of sound, but he was unable to get through again.
Both of them are on a mission? Could it be related to Professor Finch?
Wei Hongsi muttered to himself for a moment, then sent a message to each of them before turning on his computer to play a couple of games to relax.
He had just logged into his game account when his phone rang. He glanced down at the number; it wasn't his older brother or Zhang Shengyong calling, but Ji Cheng.
Wei Hongsi was slightly surprised and swiped on the screen to answer the call.
"Mr. Wei, are you busy right now? There's something I'd like to discuss with you."
"No rush, Mr. Ji, please go ahead."
"That's good." Ji Cheng smiled and said, "Shen Qing just called me and asked for your contact information, saying she has some questions she'd like to discuss with you."
"Oh, no problem." Wei Hongsi was truly surprised, but he still readily agreed.
"Okay, then I'll give her your contact information and phone number."
"OK."
"Then I won't bother you any longer. If you have time this weekend, let's get together with Mr. Lu."
Wei Hongsi figured he wouldn't have much to do over the weekend, so he agreed.
After hanging up the phone, Ji Cheng sent Wei Hongsi's Zhixin number to Shen Qing, along with Wei's mobile phone number.
In fact, the conversation between Ji Cheng and Shen Qing just now was much more complicated than what he told Wei Hongsi.
Shen Qing first talked to him about some things related to the cooperation, and then subtly inquired about whether Wei Hongsi was a reliable person.
Ji Cheng was completely confused.
Shen Qing definitely remembered Wei Hongsi from the last fan meeting on the river, but she didn't even know his name, which meant it was nothing special. It's been over ten days, why is she thinking about him again?
Strange as it was, Ji Cheng still praised Wei Hongsi. Things like being calm, sincere, and unassuming were his immediate impressions.
He knew what public figures like Shen Qing valued most: keeping secrets and being able to keep things confidential. So he wanted to emphasize this advantage.
Then Shen Qing seemed to weigh her options for a moment, and asked him for Wei Hongsi's contact information, saying she had something to ask him.
Ji Cheng didn't treat Shen Qing differently just because she was a celebrity. He first asked Wei Hongsi for his opinion before giving Shen Qing her contact information.
After receiving Ji Cheng's message, Shen Qing jumped up from the carpet. If Ji Cheng saw her like this, he would be utterly astonished.
At this moment, Shen Qing's hair was a messy clump on her head, and she had heavy dark circles under her round-framed glasses. Her loose T-shirt was stained with a lot of juice and ink, making her look like a little slovenly girl who had been overly tormented.
She paced around the room a few times with her phone in her hand, as if she had made up her mind, then sat cross-legged on the carpet and added Wei Hongsi as a friend on Zhixun.
After receiving Ji Cheng's call, Wei Hongsi didn't rush into the game. He wanted to see if Shen Qing had any questions for him first.
Not long after, his phone beeped, and he accepted the friend request. A moment later, the other person sent a voice message.
"Hi Hongsi, this is Shen Qing. I'm currently writing songs for my new album and would like to ask for your feedback. Please keep it a secret!"
Wei Hongsi was dumbfounded when he heard the voice message.
He thought Shen Qing was going to ask some questions related to cognitive science, so why was it about music?
You're a pop star, you're the expert in this field. Asking me this is like asking a blind person for directions. Would anyone ask a physics or biology teacher a music question?
